MAGSAYSAY Award Winner Syeda Rizwana Hasan Spoke at CEO Lecture Series
On March 10, 2014 Advocate Syeda Rizwana Hasan, MAGSAYSAY award winner and Executive Director of Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association (BELA), delivered a very lively and overwhelming speech on the topic “Journey Towards Enlightenment” in the ‘CEO Lecture Series’ organised by the Department of Textile Engineering in the University’s permanent campus at Tejgoan I/A . Mrs. Hasan shared her academic and professional experiences with the students and gave a brief picture of the state of environmental justice and jurisprudence in Bangladesh. Prof. Dr. Anwar Hossain, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor and Prof. Dr. Humayun Kabir Chowdhury, Pro-Vice Chancellor, SEU were present in the event as the Chief Guest and Special Guest respectively. The Program was co-sponsored by Centre for Development Innovation & Practices (C-DiP) and its Executive Director Mr. Mohammed Yahia also spoke in the occasion. Prof. Syed Fakhrul Hassan, Dean (Acting), School of Science & Engineering and Chairman, Dept. of Textile Engineering addressed the guests and the students as Chair of the session.


Seminar on “Textile & Clothing Sector of Bangladesh: Strength and Opportunity” at IEB
Professor Syed Fakhrul Hassan Murad, Dean (Acting) of School of Science & Engineering and Chairman of Department of Textile Engineering of the Southeast University Bangladesh, presented a keynote paper on “Textile & Clothing Sector of Bangladesh: Strength and Opportunity” in a seminar on 28/02/2014 organised by the Textile Engineering Division of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB). Dr. Engr. M. Shamim Z. Bosunia, PEng, the President of IEB, graced the occasion as chief guest. Engr. Miah Muhammad Quayyum (Honorary General Secretary of IEB), Engr. Md. Shamsuzzaman (President of ITET) and Prof. Dr. Md. Zulhash Uddin (Bangladesh University of Textiles) were present as special guests. Engr. Mohiuddin Selim, President of Textile Engineering Division of IEB presided over the session while Engr. Sumayel Md. Mallik, Secretary, Textile Engineering Division, IEB and Engr. Md. Enayet Hossain, Vice-Chairman, Textile Engineering Division, IEB gave the welcome speech and vote of thanks respectively.


In the Textile Engineering Department, students participate in extracurricular activities throughout the semester. Such activities are generally voluntary. The objective of these activities is to help students develop non-academically in addition to their academic development. The Textile Club plays a leading role in organizing these extracurricular activities. Activities include debate competition, games & sports, cultural and social activities, fashion show, open day etc. The Department also publishes a Wall Magazine under the initiative of a group of students.

In the Department there are various types of Club. The clubs are Textile club, Sports Club, Debate Club, Drama Club, Social & Cultural Club, Photography Club, Health Club, Language Club, Science Club.
