The Institute of Research & Training (IRT) and Career & Professional Development Services (CPDS) jointly organized a seminar on "Teachings of Ramadan" on 20 March 2024, in Room 215. Led by Prof. Dr. Yusuf Mahbubul Islam from the Department of CSE, the seminar delved into the spiritual significance of Ramadan as outlined in the Holy Quran. Participants gained insights into its teachings through a research-oriented approach.

The seminar also featured a discussion on the health benefits of fasting, led by Professor Hasnat M. Alamgir, CPDS Director. Dr. Farhana Ferdousi, IRT Director, moderated the session, ensuring a smooth flow of dialogue and exchange of ideas.

The event provided attendees with a deeper understanding of Ramadan's teachings from research mindset.

The Department of English of Southeast University hosted an iftar mahfil on March 24, 2024, with an impressive participation of approximately 300 attendees at the Cafeteria of Southeast University. Among the distinguished guests were Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, the honorable Advisor to the Board of Trustees, Prof. Dr. Farhana Helal Mehtab, Dean of the School of Arts and Social Sciences, and Ms. Aliya Shahanoor Ameen, Chairperson of the Department of English, alongside the other esteemed faculty members.

The event commenced promptly at 5:20 PM with a warm welcome from Dr. Muhammad Tofazzel Hossain, the program's convener, setting the stage for an evening filled with joy and reflection. Following the opening remarks, a recitation from the Holy Quran added a reverent touch to the proceedings. Afterwards, Ms. Aliya Shahanoor Ameen, the Chairperson of English, expressed gratitude and recognition to a student for selfless aid to a peer who had suffered an accidental injury, exemplifying the spirit of compassion within the department. The day unfolded with delectable snacks and a hearty lunch, energizing everyone for the exciting events ahead. Southeast University (SEU) commemorated the 104th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and celebrated the 53rd Independence Day of Bangladesh with a profound Discussion Program titled "Bangabandhu & Independence Day" and a vibrant cultural program on March 27, 2024, at the permanent campus in Tejgaon, Dhaka. Prof. Dr. AFM Mafizul Islam, Vice Chancellor of Southeast University, presided over the program, while Md. Nazrul Islam Khan, Curator at the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Museum, graced the event as the Chief Guest. Nasima Begum, Former Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs and Former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), attended the program as a Special Guest. The event took place on March 7th at 10:00 a.m., aiming to illuminate the educational landscape in Japan and explore potential avenues for academic and research pursuits. Professor Dr. Yusuf Mahbubul Islam chaired the event.

Dr. Ashir Ahmed, an esteemed Associate Professor from the Faculty of Information Science and Electrical Engineering at Kyushu University, led the session, offering valuable insights and perspectives on the subject matter. Attendees had the opportunity to delve into the nuances of higher education and research opportunities in Japan, gaining a deeper understanding of the academic environment and its challenges.

During this event, a total of seven meticulously prepared research proposals were presented, with the Department of Pharmacy contributing six proposals, and one originating from the Department of Architecture at Southeast University.

The discerning evaluation process was carried out by a distinguished panel, headed by Professor Dr. ANM Mesquat Uddin, the Advisor of the Board of Trustees (BOT) at SEU Trust. Prof. Dr. Mahbubur Rahman, Pro Vice Chancellor at Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, served as an external evaluator. The panel also included members from the IRT executive committee. The presentations underwent a thorough assessment with an interactive question-and-answer session, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of the proposals' merits.

Department of Career & Professional Development Services (CPDS) of Southeast University (SEU) and Southeast English Club jointly organized a CV & Cover Letter Writing session on 25 January 2024 at SEU Campus, Tejgaon, Dhaka. The participants were final year students of English Department. Prof. Dr. Hasnat M. Alamgir, Director of CPDS conducted the workshop. Ms. Jahanara Begum, Asst. Prof. of English Departement and Asst. Moderator of English club delivered the welcome speech and introduced Dr. Hasnat to the students. Students participated in the group discussion and question & answer session spontaneously during the workshop. Later, Dr. Shahanaz Khanam, Associate Prof. and Chairperson, Department of English thanked all for making the session successful.

Southeast Computer Club organized the Grand Meetup of 2023 of the club on 18 January 2024 at SEU Campus, Tejgaon, Dhaka. Existing members including the executive committee of 2023, sub executive and general members and faculties from the Department of CSE were present in the function. The members joined the event with great enthusiasm and excitement. Mr. Mohammad Shohel Rana, Lecturer, Dept. of CSE and Moderator, Southeast Computer Club; Mr. Mohammad Ashraful Hoque, Assistant Professor and Coordinator, Dept. of CSE and Assistant Moderator, Southeast Computer Club and Mr. Tashreef Muhammad, Lecturer and Coordinator, Dept. of CSE were also present in this event to inspire the students.

The guests gave inspiring speeches and motivated the members to get involved in the extracurricular activities. They also shared their experiences while serving the responsibilities of the club. Then they launched the T shirt and cut cake for the event. After that members showed their creativity with song, dance, recitation etc. Prizes were also given to them by lottery. The program inspired the new members to work with dedication and strength.

Mr. Quazi Gulam Farhad, the Trade Commissioner of the High Commission of Canada in Bangladesh visited SEU on 28 November 2023. During the visit he met Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, Adviser to BoT, and Prof. Dr. Hasnat M. Alamgir, Director of CPDS. The focus of the discussion was on higher education opportunities in Canada for SEU students and about research and faculty and student exchange programs.

Southeast University (SEU), Bangladesh and Auckland Institute of Studies (AIS), New Zealand signed a Memorandum of Intent (MoI) on 27 November 2023 at SEU Campus, Tejgaon, Dhaka in order to create mutual academic and research cooperation. Department of Career & Professional Development Services (CPDS), SEU organized the ceremony. Dr. Ershad Ali, Research Professor was present on behalf of AIS. Prof. Dr. AFM Mafizul Islam, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, Adviser to BoT, and Prof. Dr. Hasnat M. Alamgir, Director of CPDS was present on behalf of SEU. The MoI will support nurture the bilateral relationship between two institutions.

The 127^th meeting of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of Southeast University Trust (SEUT) was held on Wednesday, 15 November 2023 at 6:00 pm in the BoT Conference Room at the permanent campus of the university in Tejgaon. The meeting was presided by Mr. Rezaul Karim, Chairman of BoT, SEUT. BoT members discussed various academic and administrative issues and took important decisions. The members of BoT provided valuable guidance to the management of the university, reviewed the progress of various activities and focused on future plans of the university.

The Putra Business School (PBS) delegation made an academic visit to Southeast University on its permanent campus at Tejgaon, Dhaka-1208. The networking event between Southeast University (SEU) and Putra Business School was organized on 20 th September 2023. The management team of Southeast University enthusiastically welcomed the delegation, which was led by PBS Research Program Director Prof. Dr. Human Hon Tat. The successful and productive meeting between Southeast University and Putra Business School were attended by the Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. AFM Mafizul Islam; the Hon’ble Advisor to the Board of Trustees, SEUT, Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin; the Registrar, Maj Gen Kazi Fakhruddin Ahmed (Retd.); Prof. Dr. Md. Serajul Islam, Dean, SBS; Prof. Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rahim, Director of BBA Program, SBS and other departmental heads.

An informative session was also conducted by PBS authority to present the detailed curriculum of the Ph.D. program at their university. Prof. Dr. Huam Hon Tat, PBS Director of Research Programs, conducted the presentation event to entice potential students to pursue their postgraduate studies at Putra Business School, University Putra Malaysia. All faculty members from Southeast Business School were present at the presentation session.

The session was an insightful and significant one and provided proper guidance to the faculty members who are planning to pursue their postgraduate studies.

A workshop on “Writing Research Proposal” was organized by the Institute of Research and Training (IRT) on 26 th October at 11.30 a.m. in room no. 215 of SEU Permanent Campus. The workshop provided comprehensive guidelines on how to write a research proposal and what are the key issues to win grant on proposals. The workshop mainly targeted to engage young faculty members in research.


Prof. Dr. Serajul Islam, Convener, IRT Executive Committee, and Dean, SBS inaugurated the session. Prof. Hasnat M. Alamgir, PhD, Director, CPDS and Professor Department of Pharmacy, Dr. Kazi Tanvir Mahmud, Chairman and Associate Professor, Department of Economics, and Dr. Farhana Ferdousi, Director, IRT and Associate Professor, SBS conducted the session on how to write a research proposal. Around ninety (90) faculty members from various departments participated in the workshop. Directors and Chairmen of various departments were also present at the inaugural session.


With active participation and question and answers, the program provided practical learning and confidence among the young faculty members about their future research plans.

Institute of Research and Training (IRT) of SEU organized a program on research presentation on October 18, 2023 at 11.00 am at the SEU Conference Room.

Progress on four IRT-funded research projects were presented by the following faculty members: Professor Arun Kanti Guha, Dept. of Textile and Engineering, Nisrat Jahan, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Pharmacy, Yesmin Begum, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Pharmacy and Dr. Sabiha Ferdowsy Koly, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Pharmacy. An evaluation team consisting of external expert, internal experts, and the IRT Executive Committee members attended the presentations and provided extensive feedback to the researchers.


Dr. Serajul Islam, Dean, SBS and SASS & convener of the Executive Committee (EC) of IRT and Dr. Farhana Ferdousi, Director, IRT and member secretary of Executive Committee of IRT were present at the meeting. Along with other EC members of IRT, Prof. Md. Abdus Salam of Dhaka University attended, as an external evaluator. Professor Dr. Hasnat M Alamgir, Director CPDS attended as well as an internal evaluator.

With the active participation of the researchers and evaluators, this event assessed the progress of the funded projects and enriched the final outcomes of the research findings.

In a collaborative effort, Southeast Business School and the Department of Pharmacy joined hands to host a seminar titled ‘Discovering Exciting Careers in Pharmaceuticals’ on Thursday, September 21, 2023. The seminar provided comprehensive career guidance for individuals’ kick-start their careers in the pharmaceutical industry. Focusing on fresh graduates, the event highlighted the importance of making a lasting impression during their interviews and emphasized on soft skills necessary to enhance CVs for increased recruitment chances in competitive recruitment processes.

The program was inaugurated by Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, the Hon’ble Advisor to the Board of Trustees, SEUT. He underscored the significance of collaboration between the corporate sector and academia in addressing prevailing business and social challenges. He also expressed Southeast University's relentless commitment to delivering quality education and producing high-caliber professionals for the corporate sector of Bangladesh and abroad.


The keynote speaker, Mr. Rafiqul Islam, Head of HR at Eskayef (SK+F) Pharmaceuticals Ltd., engaged 127 students with his interactive speech. He blended humor, real-life examples, and fact-based discussions to captivate the audience. He placed special emphasis on undertaking part-time jobs during student life, developing soft skills, and directed attention to emerging areas such as business analytics, digital marketing, artificial intelligence (AI), and block chain technology as promising areas of niche jobs. Prof. Dr. Md. Serajul Islam, Dean, SBS; Prof. Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rahim, Director of SBS; and Dr. Md. Siddiqul Islam, Chairman of the Department of Pharmacy also shared their insights on pursuing a career path in the pharmaceutical industry.

Deans of different Schools, Heads of different departments, faculty members, students and several corporate personnel from the Eskayef Bangladesh Ltd. attended the seminar. The seminar was an insightful and impactful event, providing students with practical advice and industry perspectives to guide them in their careers in the pharmaceutical industry. figure.

Southeast University (SEU) Observed ‘Sheikh Russel Day 2023’ a momentous occasion honoring the 59 th Birth Anniversary of Sheikh Russel, the youngest son of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. On October 18, 2023, SEU organized a discussion program and arranged a special do’a mehfil to pay tribute to the legacy of this revered figure.

The event garnered esteemed dignitaries, including Mr. K M Khalid, Member of Parliament and Hon'ble State Minister of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, who graced the program as the Chief Guest. The event was presided over by the Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. AFM Mafizul Islam and Mr. Rezaul Karim, Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) at SEU Trust was present as the Special Guest. Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, Adviser to the Board of Trustees, warmly welcomed the guest and attendees with a gracious opening speech.

The event witnessed the presence of several distinguished personalities, including Members of the Board of Trustees, Deans, Department Chairs, faculty members, administrative staff, and students of Southeast University. On August 22, 2023 at 11:00 AM, Southeast Language and Literature Club organized a workshop titled “Speak in English Like a Pro: The Secrets of Effective Communication.” The workshop was conducted by renowned linguists and communication experts Nujhat Afrin and Shusmita Hossain Khan as keynote speakers. Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, Adviser to BOT, Southeast University Trust attended as Chief Guest in this workshop. Mst. Lizu Akter, Lecturer Department of Bangla Language & Literature and Moderator of Southeast Language and Literature Club attended the program. Over 100 students from different departments participated in the workshop.
The aim of this event was to enhance the English language skill and communication skill of the participants. In an impressive showcase of dedication and commitment, the Language and Literature Club at Southeast University achieved a remarkable milestone by successfully completing “a workshop on English communication titled Speak in English Like a Pro: The Secrets of Effective Communication.”
In the last part of the event, The Chief guest gave a memorable speech, In his speech, Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin shared valuable insights into the nuances of language and its impact on effective communication. After that, the former EC members of 2022 and invited guests received the crest from the chief guest. Lizu Akter, moderator of Southeast Language and Literature Club delivered vote of thanks to conclude the event.

On September 26, 2023, at 11:00 AM, department of English, SEU observed T.S. Eliot's 135 th birthday titled "Celebrating T.S. Eliot: Dhaka, the Dying City". The 1948 winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature, T.S. Eliot is highly distinguished as a poet, a literary critic, a dramatist, an editor, and a publisher.

Honorable Advisor to Southeast University's Board of Trustees Professor Dr. A.N.M. Meshquat Uddin presided over the occasion, while Dr. Mst. Shahanaz Khanam, Associate Professor and Chairperson, Department of English, SEU, delivered the welcome speech.

Professor Dr. Shamsad Mortuza, department of English, University of Dhaka graced the occasion as the resource person. He delivered an insightful speech about the late poet's contribution to literature and enlightened the students present in the event.

The Department of English at SEU hosted the "Dhaka, the Dying City" photography contest and the winners were awarded prizes by the distinguished guests. The students of the department of English put together a vibrant cultural program as a part of the celebration. The event’s convener, Ms. Nafisa Ahsan Nitu, Assistant Professor in the department of English at Southeast University, delivered a vote of thanks to conclude the event.

Department of Career & Professional Development Services (CPDS) of Southeast University (SEU) organized a workshop titled “Understanding Job Advertisement & Writing Cover Letter” on 08 October 2023 at SEU Campus, Tejgaon, Dhaka. Prof. Dr. Hasnat M. Alamgir, Director of CPDS conducted the workshop. Students of Pharmacy Department who has recently complete the B Pharm program participated in the group discussion and question & answer session spontaneously during the workshop.

Southeast University has celebrated the ‘World Teachers Day 2023’ on 05 October, 2023 (Thursday) through a rally followed by a discussion session on “Accountability of University Teachers” and a cultural program. The rally started from the ground floor of the campus in the morning at 11.00 am and the discussion & cultural program was held from 02:00 pm in the Multipurpose Hall of the university.


Professor Dr. AFM Mafizul Islam, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, Hon’ble Advisor, BOT, SEUT, Prof. Dr. Md. Serajul Islam, Dean of SBS, Prof. Dr. MA Hakim, Director, IQAC spoke on the occation. Registrar of Southeast University Maj Gen Kazi Fakhruddin Ahmed (Retd.), departmental heads from academic and non-academic departments, faculty members, officials and student executives from 19 clubs of southeast University were present in the program.


The faculty members from different departments participated in song, dance, poem recitation and jokes in this grand cultural session. The program was anchored by Dr. Israt Jahan Bulbul and Dr. Shams Al Din.

The Annual General Meeting of the Board of Governors`(BOG) of South Asia Foundation was held on Wednesday, 27 September 2023 at 6:30 pm in the Conference Room of the Southeast University permanent campus, 225, Tejgaon I/A, Dhaka. The meeting was presided by Mr. Rezaul Karim, Chairman of BOG, SAF. BOG Members discussed various financial issues and took important decisions. The members of BOG mainly focused on future plans of the Foundation.

Department of Economics, Southeast University (SEU) organized Eco-Fest 2023-an annual daylong event highlighting the Department and its features on 23rd September, 2023 in the Multipurpose Hall. Dr. AFM Mafizul Islam, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SEU graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.  Dr. A.N.M Meshquat Uddin Hon’ble Adviser, BoT, SEUT, Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Hakim, Director MDS and IQAC, Dr. Kazi Tanvir Mahmud, Chairman, Department of Economics and faculty members of the Department of Economics were also present.

35th Academic Council Meeting of Southeast University (SEU) was held on 26 September 2023 at SEU Conference Room, Permanent Campus Tejgaon, Dhaka. Prof. Dr. AFM Mafizul Islam, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of SEU chaired the meeting.

Dr. Mohammad Nawaz and Advocate Niaz Ahamed, Hon’ble Members of Board of Trustees, SEU Trust attended the meeting. Besides, Hon’ble Adviser Board of Trustees, SEU Trust Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, Registrar Maj Gen Kazi Fakhruddin Ahmed (Retd) and all other members of the Academic Council also attended the meeting.

Department of Career & Professional Development Services (CPDS) of Southeast University (SEU) organized a Career Training Session for the final year students on 20 September 2023 at SEU Campus, Tejgaon, Dhaka.


 The session includes interview preparation and techniques, presentation skills, corporate cultural training, how to become a smart candidate and professional cv writing. Corporate trainers from OChakri.com conducted the session. Prof. Dr. Hasnat M. Alamgir, Director of CPDS was also present during the session.

The Southeast Business Innovation Forum, in association with Excellence Bangladesh, successfully organized a Public Speaking and Business Debate competition titled Stump Oratory 3.0. 

Enthusiastic participation of students were seen from Southeast Business School in this event. The primary aim of the competition was to elevate students' public speaking prowess, foster innovative thinking, cultivate critical reasoning abilities, and provide a comprehensive grasp of business deliberations.

The opening of the program was at 12:00 PM. In the first phase of the event, the initial round of debate and public speaking competitions has begun. To determine the government and opposition, each of the teams participated in a coin toss. The first phase of the debate competition captivated everyone's attention and interest. And then two teams were selected for the final round. Meanwhile, the first round of public speaking competition was going on simultaneously at another venue. Six contestants were selected for the final round. 

This event was graced by the presence of esteemed personalities as both guests and judges.  Zafar Sadiq, the General Secretary of Prothom Alo Bondhushava (National Committee), along with Hasan Mahmud Samrut, HR Officer at Daraz Bangladesh,  Salman Ahmed, Senior Executive of Brand & Marketing at The Daily Star and  Naim Muntazer, Marketing and Business  Development Officer, Excellence Bangladesh. Their presence added a touch of perfection to the event and significantly contributed to its resounding success. 

Some other special personalities were present on the event as special guests they are our Professor Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rahim, Director of SBS, S.M Raihan Uddin, Moderator of SBIF, Najifa Tasnim Teesha, Asst. Moderator of SBIF. Their appearance made the event more special. Commencing the second phase of the event, the final debate competition and public speaking competition were held. Team "Dekhi ki hoy" got the ballot in the final debate and became the Champion, leaving the Runner Up trophy for the team "Shoktishali".

And the last phase of the program was the award-giving ceremony . Crests were awarded to the winners of Public Speaking and Business Debate Competition. The winners of public speaking competition were, Champion - Miraz Alam Akib, 1st Runner-up - Md. Mohibullah Asif, and 2nd Runner-up - Shahrear Faruk Johan.

The esteemed guests were awarded with the Crests. Afterwards the assistant moderator of Southeast Business Innovation Forum, Najifa Tasnim Teesha announced the closing of the event with vote of thanks.

On Thursday, September 21, 2023, Department of Law of Southeast University (SEU) in collaboration with Southeast Moot Court Society (SEMCS) organized a program titled ‘Meet the Leader’ at the SEU Multipurpose Hall, Permanent Campus Tejgaon, Dhaka. Prof. Dr. AFM Mafizul Islam, Vice Chancellor of SEU chaired the program while Mr. AM Amin Uddin, Hon’ble Attorney General for Bangladesh was present in the program as Chief Guest. Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, Adviser to BoT of SEUT gave the welcome speech. An interactive question and answer session were held, where students participated spontaneously.


Among others, Maj Gen Kazi Fakhruddin Ahmed (Retd.), Registrar, Prof. Dr. Md. Serajul Islam, Dean, SASS, Mr. Md. Jahid Mustofa Chairman Dept. of Law, Other Department Chairpersons, faculty members, officials and students were present on the occasion.

Marking the National Mourning Day and the 48th Martyrs' day of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members, Southeast Business School organized and observed a day - long ‘National Mourning Day 2023 Program’ on August 24, 2023 at the permanent campus of Southeast University. A discussion session was held on this occasion followed by events like essay writing, recitation from poetry, singing of patriotic songs and painting competition.

Prof. Dr. A.F.M. Mafizul Islam, Vice Chancellor, Southeast University was present in the discussion session as the Chief Guest and Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, Adviser to BOT, Southeast University was present as a Special Guest. The program was chaired by Prof. Dr. Md. Serajul Islam, Dean, Southeast Business School, Southeast University.


In the first half of the program, a discussion session was held and it was started with a welcome speech by Prof. Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rahim, Director, BBA Program, Southeast Business School, SEU. The chief guest of the program Prof. Dr. AFM Mafizul Islam mentioned in his speech “The freedom we are savoring today is given to us by our Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Without his visionary leadership and unforgettable sacrifices, this country could never see the light of independence. If he had not given us this independent country, today we would not be able to come together in this Private University.”  Special Guest, Prof. Dr. ANM. Meshquat Uddin delivered a poignant speech unfolding the prominent political career of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.  Prof. Dr. Md. Serajul Islam ended the discussion session with an emotional memoir about Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. All the faculty members, officers and students of Southeast Business School were present at the discussion program.

In the second half of the program, students of Southeast Business School participated in singing, poetry recitation, essay writing and painting competition, highlighting the aspirations of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Prizes were given away to the winners by the Dean and the Director, Southeast Business School, Southeast University. The day was observed with great severance and solemnity.

The Southeast Model United Nations Club successfully organized a two-day workshop on 'Diplomacy for Human Rights Vis-à-vis Model United Nations,' which took place from the 15th to the 16th of September 2023. The event featured a distinguished panel of seven resource persons who shared their extensive Model United Nations (MUN) experiences and Human Rights knowledge with an audience of over 100 participants.

The inaugural session on the first day was led by Ms. Mahapara Sanjana, Lecturer in the Department of Law, in the morning. She comprehensively covered the fundamental rules and procedures governing MUN simulations. In the afternoon, the esteemed founder president of Southeast MUN Club, Adv. Sayeda Farhana, graced the workshop with her insights and rich experiences in the world of MUN. Following this, the General Secretary of JUMUNA, Zarin Tasnim Lubna, along with the Treasurer, Mr. Abrar Jahin, took the stage to deliver enlightening sessions on various aspects of Model United Nations.

On the final day of the workshop, Humaira Anjum Oishe, an Erasmus Mundus scholar, conducted a meticulous session on the position paper and effective strategies for researching a country and its agenda within the context of Model United Nations. Following this, Rifat Tamanna, a former research fellow, BSWS; LLB (Hons.) from BRAC University, delved into the crucial realm of International Journalism with a specific focus on Human Rights issues. Her session provided valuable insights into the intersection of journalism and human rights. The day culminated with a session led by Mr. Arfan Ahmed, a respected Lecturer and Academic Coordinator in the Department of Law. Mr. Ahmed explored the intricate dimensions of Human Rights from the perspective of Model United Nations, further enriching the participants' understanding of this vital subject matter.

These informative sessions delivered by various resource persons served to enhance the participants' understanding of Model United Nations (MUN) practices and the intricacies of diplomacy within the framework of human rights.

The Department of Economics, Southeast University (SEU) organized a study tour for students enrolled in the Agricultural Economics Course to visit Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) on 23 rd August 2023. Faculty Members including Dr. Kazi Tanvir Mahmud, Associate Professor, and Chairman, Ms. Ruba Rummana, Associate Professor, and Mr. Jamil Hasan Imon, Lecturer, all from the Department of Economics, Southeast University (SEU) attended the study tour.


The students had the privilege of attending a session featuring Dr. Khandaker, Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Syndicate member and Dean, Faculty of Agricultural & Rural Sociology, as well as the Professor, Department of Agricultural and Applied Statistics, Dr. Mohammad Jahangir Alam, Professor, Department of Agribusiness and Marketing, and Dr. Ismat Ara Begum, Professor, Department of Agricultural Economics, all from Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) were present. Among the various locations the students visited, notable spots included the Botanical Garden and the Germplasm Centre. These excursions allowed the students to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU). The primary objective of the study tour was to provide students with hands-on experience in the realm of Agricultural Economics.

On August 25, 2023, around ten members of the Southeast Social Services Club (SSSC) visited Mehernama Government School located in Pekua Sadar Union, Cox's Bazar. They distributed relief to 100 families, comprising more than 400 individuals who were affected by the recent flood. SSSC distributed food and medicines to the flood-stricken people. This effort was carried out as a part of the club's commitment to social responsibility. Faculty members, Southeast University administration, and students from all Departments contributed to this noble initiative.


Dr. Md. Mahadhi Hasan, Moderator, and Mohammad Faiyaz Hasan, Assistant Moderator of Southeast Social Services Club, led the visit along with other members of the club.

Southeast University (SEU) observed the National Mourning Day 2023 marking the 48 th commemoration of Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. On the occasion a Discussion Program & Special Dua was organized by SEU on 31 August 2023. Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, MP, Hon'ble Speaker, Bangladesh National Parliament was present as the Chief Guest. The program was chaired by the Vice Chancellor of Southeast University, Prof. Dr. AFM Mafizul Islam while Mr. Rezaul Karim, Chairman of Board of Trustees (BoT), SEU Trust was present as the Special Guest. Maj Gen Kazi Fakhruddin Ahmed (Retd), Registrar of SEU gave the welcome speech. Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, Adviser to BoT and Prof. ABM Faroque, Dean of SSE also spoke in the discussion session.


Among others, Members of the BoT, Deans, Department Chairpersons, teachers, officials and students were present on the occasion. The program ended with prayers for Bangabandu and his family and the wellbeing of Bangladesh. students joined the program. After the seminar sessions, a Q&A session was held.

Southeast Computer Club organized a two-day online program titled “Acclaiming the CSE department to the fresher’s” for the newly admitted students for CSE batch-64 in the Summer 2023 semester on 17 and 18 August 2023. Students from CSE batch-64 participated in that event. Three faculty members from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Southeast University and members of the Computer Club conducted the seminar sessions.

Students joined this session online. On 1st day Mr. Shifat Ahmed, Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Department of CSE gave the opening speech. Later, Mr. Mohammad Shohel Rana, Lecturer, Department of CSE and Moderator of the club gave an informative speech. 2nd day Mr. Shohel Babu, Lecturer & Coordinator of the Department of CSE joined the session and encouraged the initiative taken by the Computer Club President

Md. Mustakin Mahi presented an introductory slide about the faculties of the Department of CSE. Sub executive club member Alumni gave a presentation about the Computer Club and Club facilities. At the final session, Computer Club Vice President Md Rakibul Hasan gave an informative presentation on how to operate the University Management System (UMS). Also, he informed how to do course selection on advising time. About 400 students joined the program. After the seminar sessions, a Q&A session was held.

The 126 th meeting of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of Southeast University Trust (SEUT) was held on Monday, 28 August 2023 at 6:00 pm in the BoT Conference Room at the permanent campus of the university in Tejgaon. The meeting was presided by Mr. Rezaul Karim, Chairman of BoT, SEUT. BoT members discussed various academic and administrative issues and took important decisions. The members of BoT provided valuable guidance to the management of the university, reviewed the progress of various activities and focused on future plans of the university.

Students of the Department of Textile Engineering (Evening Program) Organized a study tour (SAFE ESCAPE Season 2) at Cox's Bazar from 21 st to 23 rd July 2023. On the first day of their arrival there, all the students roamed around Kolatoli Beach Point in Cox's Bazar. On the second day, they went to CAMPiNCOX resort under the supervision of the faculty members, the students participated in a variety of sporting activities. @DAAR-KAK sponsored polo-t-shirt as a costume in Safe Escape Season 2. Engr. Md. Eanamul Haque Nizam, Assistant Professor, SEU, Mr. Syed Iftakhar Ahmad, Lecturer and Mr. Md. Ebrahim Shaikh, Lecturer, SEU attended this tour with enthusiasm which inspired the organizers and the students. The tour was successful because of the effort of the SAFE ESCAPE committee, which was diligently directed by the 6 th and 7 th batches of the Department of Textile (Evening Program). The students agreed that this tour was a refreshing escape and a way to strengthen their relationships with faculty members. Several alumni of 2 nd , 3 rd and 4 th batches (Evening Program) also took part in this tour.

'Raju Vitorko Utshob' (Raju Debate Festival) was organized to commemorate the memory of Shaheed Moazzem Hossain Raju. The festival took place under the initiative of 'Raju Vitorko Ongon' and marked the 1st Inter-private University Debate Festival. The slogan 'Sing the Song of Freedom with Logic' was adopted for this debate festival, which occurred on August 18-19 (Friday and Saturday) at the Stanford University campus.

The opening ceremony of this debate festival was held at the auditorium of Stanford University on Friday morning. It was inaugurated by Professor M. M. Akash, the former chairman of the Economics Department of Dhaka University. Also present during the occasion was former organizer of Raju Vitorko Ongon, Md. Foyez Ullah.

After several rounds of intense debates, Stanford University emerged as the victor in the tournament, with Runner-up being Southeast University. Among the debaters, Nafis Joy from Southeast University was selected as the best debater.

On Saturday at noon, the concluding and award-giving ceremony of the festival was presided over by Raju Vitorko Ongon's convener Rejoan Haque Mukta and led by the organization's coordinator Hasan Wali. Speakers during the event included Professor Dr. Moniruzzaman, the Vice-Chancellor of Stanford University, along with Hasan Hafizur Rahman Sohel and Tahmidujjaman Soeb, both of whom are associated with the struggle of Shaheed Moazzem Hossain Raju, and Rehana Akhtar, an instructor at Stanford Student Welfare. Al Mamun, assistant professor and convener of Stanford Debate Forum, Mosarrof Hossen, co-coordinator of the Journalism Department, and others were also present.

In the discussion segment, the distinguished guests expressed their commitment to realizing the dream of social harmony of Shaheed Moazzem Hossain Raju, fighting against terrorism and establishing an education system free from oppression.

Stanford Debate Forum and the promotional platform 'Torkojal' provided support for the debate festival.

"Break the Silence, Resist Online Sexual Harassment and Violence" - with this call, the 2023 International Youth Day campaign "Creating Safe Digital Spaces" concluded. Organized by Radio Shadhin 92.4 FM, the 7-day campaign aimed to raise awareness and promote safety online, in line with the observance of World Youth Day 2023. The campaign received support from Right Here Right Now 2 Coalition, BRAC, and Knowledge Partner American International University Bangladesh.

In the context of online sexual harassment and me... in the debate competition on this topic, Southeast University student Mushfiqur Rahman Rahul became the champion. Naqib Muhtasim, a student of American International University Bangladesh, secured the first runner-up position, and Ashesh Laskar, a student of East West University, won the second runner-up title. The victorious debaters were honored and rewarded. The audience, students, and guests present discussed the current state of online sexual harassment, how comprehensive sexual education can mitigate online harassment, raised concerns about law and complaints, and expressed the role of youth in reducing online sexual harassment.

Lastly, with a commitment to ensuring the safety of women and children on the internet and online platforms, the event concluded as part of the week-long celebration of International Youth Day with the campaign "Creating Safe Digital Spaces."

In an impressive showcase of dedication and commitment, the Language and Literature Club at Southeast University achieved a remarkable milestone by successfully completing “the event of member requirements” set at the beginning of the academic year. This accomplishment reflects the club's unwavering passion for exploring the depths of language and literature while fostering a sense of community among like-minded individuals. The Language and Literature Club, known for its vibrant activities, intellectual discussions, and literary events, had set specific goals and conditions for its members to fulfill. These requirements were designed to enhance their understanding of language, literature, and critical analysis, and to cultivate a thriving literary environment within the club. As club president Mr. Sayed Nur Mohammad Rayhan proudly stated, "The achievement of the event of member requirements exemplifies the passion and commitment that our club members have for language and literature. It not only fosters personal growth but also creates a supportive and vibrant literary community. We are immensely proud of the efforts put in by all our members!" Southeast University (SEU) and Al-Arafaha Islami Bank Ltd. signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on 17 August 2023 at SEU Campus Tejgaon, Dhaka. The bank also opened a cash booth at the university campus.  The MoU will cater a bilateral relationship with the Bank and the university. Prof. Dr. AFM Mafizul Islam, Vice Chancellor of SEU presided over the ceremony and Registrar, Maj Gen Kazi Fakhruddin Ahmed (Retd), signed the MoU on behalf of Southeast University. Md. Abdullah Al Mamun, Deputy Managing Director of Al-Arafaha Islami Bank Ltd. signed the MoU on behalf of his organization.

Southeast Computer Club organized the prize-giving ceremony of SEU Intra University Programming Contest Spring 2023 on 03 August 2023 at the SSE Exam Hall, Permanent Campus, Tejgaon, Dhaka. The prize-giving ceremony was attended by faculty members from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), including Mr. Shahriar Manzoor, Associate Professor and Chairman.
The ceremony started with a welcome speech by Mr. Mohammad Ashraful Hoque, Asst. Moderator of the club. Mr. Md. Mijanur Rahman, Asst. Professor of CSE department also gave a speech related to problem-solving. Mr. Shahriar Manzoor then gave a motivational speech to the contestants. Mr. Tashreef Muhammad, Lecturer of CSE department gave an overview of the whole contest. The following contestants were awarded prizes in the Senior Category: 1st Prize: Md. Nazrul Islam (Batch 51); 2nd Prize: Naveed Rahman (Batch 54), 3rd Prize: Md. Sujon Hasan (Batch 09). The following contestants were awarded prizes in the Junior Category: 1st Prize: S.M. Fahad Bin Jim (Batch 60), 2nd Prize: Chinmoy Biswas (Batch 15), 3rd Prize: Tarek Abdullah Miraj (Batch 60). Finally, Mr. Mohammad Shohel Rana, Moderator of the club.

Southeast Computer Club organized the Succession Ceremony of the club on 03 August 2023 at the SSE Exam Hall, Permanent Campus, Tejgaon, Dhaka. The faculties of the CSE department and members of the previous and present committees were present at the program. Mr. Md. Shohel Babu, former Assistant Moderator of the club expressed his experiences, and appreciated the club's activities. President of the club executive committee 2022 Khondaker Shahdat Hossain shared his journey with the club from the beginning. He inspired the students to join the club activities and to develop their skills. Later, the previous committee members were awarded crests and certificates for their outstanding contributions to the club.

Dr. Farhana Ferdousi, the Director of the Institute of Research and Training (IRT), recently participated in a prestigious International Conference held in Langkawi on 27-30 July 2023 and a Seminar held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 2 August 2023. The event brought together an esteemed gathering of social entrepreneurs, scholars, policymakers, and change makers from across the globe to discuss and explore innovative approaches to address pressing social and environmental challenges.
During the conference in Langkawi, Dr. Farhana moderated two panels on “Entrepreneurship and Academia” and “Deep Dive into Social Business Innovation: New Economics for Sustainable Future”. The conference provided a platform for thought leaders and practitioners to exchange ideas, share best practices, and collaborate on sustainable solutions that bridge the gap between business and social impact.


The Director's contributions to the discussions centered on the importance of holistic and sustainable approaches in nurturing social enterprises, fostering social innovation ecosystems, and addressing systemic role of academia.
The Director also presented a keynote speech in a seminar organized by the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM), Kualalampur on 2 August 2023. Followed by a seminar, Director also presented the major research and academic activities of Southeast University (SEU) in a MOU-preparatory meeting between SEU and IIUM.

Department of Career & Professional Development Services (CPDS) arranged an Information Dissemination Program on higher study opportunities in Australia, New Zealnad, UK, USA, Canada, Ireland and Malaysia in association with Study Co. The program was held on 18 and 19 July 2023 at SEU Permanent Campus, Tejgaon, Dhaka. 4 selected student volunteers from SEU facilitated the program. About 200 students from SEU received information

Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) of the U.S. Department of Commerce conducted a workshop on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in partnership with the Bangladesh International Arbitration Centre (BIAC) at the InterContinental Dhaka on June 16, 2023. Five students from Department of Law of Southeast University participated in the workshop on invitation. They are Selina Yeasmin, Jothe Akter, Farhan Abdullahi Mohamud, Tahmina Akter Supti and Aranna Hossain Sakib. In his inaugural speech, the CEO of BIAC, Mr. Kaiser Ahmed Chowdhury welcomed students from various universities and motivated them to learn more about ADR. The main workshop was conducted by Adam McWilliams & Elizabeth Wilson, Legal Consultants at Quinn Emanuel (London), where the students learned about arbitration agreements, arbitration proceedings, arbitration awards and enforcement as well as mediation process. The workshop was concluded by an interactive question-and-answer session.

Department of Career & Professional Development Services (CPDS) of Southeast University (SEU) organized a CV Writing Session for the Students of Law and Bangla Department on 19 July 2023 at SEU Permanent Campus, Tejgaon, Dhaka. 


Ms. Tahnia Shahid, Director of CPDS was the Resource Person of the session. Mohammad Jahid Mustofa, Chairman, Department of Law delivered the Welcome Speech and introduced the resource person to the students. Students were given orientation about preparing their CVs effectively in modern method at the workshop. At the end an interactive question and answer session was held, where students participated spontaneously and opined that the session was very useful for their future career.

Southeast University (SEU), Bangladesh and University of Portsmouth (UoP), UK signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 22 June 2023 at SEU Conference Room, Permanent Campus, Tejgaon, Dhaka in order to extend mutual academic cooperation. Department of Career & Professional Development Services (CPDS), SEU organized the virtual ceremony. Chris Chang, Deputy Vice- Chancellor (Global Engagement and Student Life) and Joe Hall, Global Engagement Officer were present on behalf of University of Portsmouth. Prof. Dr. AFM Mafizul Islam, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, Adviser to BoT (Founding Body), Registrar, Deans, Secretary of BoT and Director, CPDS were present on behalf of Southeast University. The MoU will support the bilateral relationship between two institutions as well as the countries.

Southeast Business School orchestrated a remarkable event on June 14th titled "SBS Success Stories" in association with Southeast Business Innovation Forum. The entire event was hosted by Tasnia Alam Saika and Ashrafuzzaman Partho, two dedicated members of Southeast Business Innovation Forum. The primary objective behind the inception of "SBS Success Stories" was to provide our students with a wellspring of inspiration and empowerment by showcasing tangible examples of entrepreneurial triumphs. "SBS Success Stories" proved to be an exclusive event where we had the honor of welcoming two exceptional alumni who have achieved great heights in the corporate world. Mr. Mohammad Nurun Nobi, the Manager of the Sourcing Development Department at VF Asia Sourcing Limited, and Ms. Shahana Parveen Borna, Managing Director & CEO of Scorpio, graced us with their presence. The event commenced with a warm welcome speech by the Director of the BBA Program, Prof. Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rahim. In the next phase of the event, Mr. Mohammad Nurun Nobi, Manager of the Sourcing Development Department at VF Asia Sourcing Limited, shared his invaluable success story. His accomplishments undoubtedly served as a wellspring of inspiration for countless students, who eagerly sought to learn from his experiences. On May 18th, 2023, Southeast Business Innovation Forum (SBIF) in association with Excellence Bangladesh successfully organized a workshop titled Start-Up Mindset. The workshop was specially organized to encourage college students to become entrepreneurs creating a platform for them to shape their dreams into reality.  158 registered students from more than 20 reputed colleges participated spontaneously. Their active participation brightened up the surroundings around the hall. The entire event was hosted by Tasnia Alam Saika and Ashrafuzzaman Partho, two dedicated members of Southeast Business Innovation Forum. The workshop started with a welcome speech by Najifa Tasneem Teesha, Assistent Moderator of Southeast Business Innovation Forum. Thereafter, Prof. Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rahim, Director of the BBA program, presented his informative speech to everyone. And then Prof. Dr. Md. Serajul Islam, Dean of SBS, delivered his valuable speech to encourage everyone. In the next phase of the workshop, some of the members of Southeast Business Innovation Forum who are running their own businesses have shared their entrepreneurial journey and experiences with college students to inspire and embolden them.  In the next phase of the workshop, Naim Muntazer, Marketing and Business Development Officer of Excellence Bangladesh shared his insightful strategies for effective marketing and business growth.  Thereafter, Shahadat Hossain Dipto, Former Deputy Managing Director of Khan Bahadur Group, shared his invaluable experience in navigating the business world and shared his journey with Global Gadget.  The workshop was further enriched by the presence of notable industry professionals. Nasima Akthar Nisha, Founder & President of "Women & E-Commerce Trust (WE)," empowered participants with her inspiring journey as a successful entrepreneur. Along with her, G M Kamrul Hasan, owner of "The Corporate Coach" and former CEO of "Igloo" & "Sindabad.com," provided invaluable advice on leadership and achieving business excellence. Additionally, the event was graced by the presence of Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, Advisor, Board of Trustees who provided his inspiring insights and guidance at the end of the workshop.  As a token of honor the guest speakers of the event received crests from our respective Special Guests. Department of Career & Professional Development Services (CPDS) organized an on campus interview and recruitment session for the final year students of Southeast University (SEU) on 13 June 2023 at SEU Permanent Campus, Tejgaon, Dhaka. Bangladesh Skill Development Institute (BSDI) offered internship opportunities and several full-time positions for SEU students. Three member panel including Ms. Tahnia Shahid, Director of CPDS conducted the interview session. A number of 15 students from different departments of SEU participated in the session. It was a great exposure for the students as they learnt how to face an interview.

Southeast Computer Club organized a program titled “A Day with College Students” at the Southeast University permanent Campus, Tejgaon, Dhaka on 03 June 2023. Students from several colleges participated in that event. Four faculty members from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Southeast University and Computer Club conduct the sessions. The club members received the college students cordially. Md. Mustakin Mahi, President of Computer Club delivered the opening speech and introduced our university. He also informed them about the facilities of the department of Computer Science and Engineering. Dr. Gazi Zahirul Islam, Associate Professor of the Department of CSE gave presentation on “Higher Education at Country and Abroad.” Then Mr. Tashreef Muhammad, Lecturer, Department of CSE gave an informative presentation on Competitive Programming, how to get started with CP, and the importance of problem-solving. At the final session, Mr Mohammad Ashraful Haque, Assistant Professor Department of CSE and Assistant Moderator of the Southeast Computer Club gave an informative speech. About 100 students from several colleges joined the program. After the seminar sessions, the computer club conducted a quiz session. The students participated in the quiz contest with excitement. Prize giving ceremony was held after the contest. At the end, Mr. Mohammad Shohel Rana, Lecturer of the Department of CSE and Moderator of the Southeast Computer Club gave an inspirational speech and vote of thanks to students for joining the seminar.

On 31 May 2023, Southeast Business School (SBS) of Southeast University (SEU) organized a program titled ‘Meet the Leader’ at the Permanent Campus. The program was chaired by Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, Hon’ble Adviser, BoT, SEUT, and Mr. Syed Alamgir, CEO (FMCG), Meghna Group of Industries was the Chief Guest (Leader). The program started with recitation from the Holy Qu`ran by Mr. Mohammad Azhar Hossain, Lecturer, Southeast Business School. Prof. Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rahim, Director, BBA Program, Southeast Business School introduced the resource person and leader of the program by emphasizing on his iconic life and achievements. His speech was followed by the valuable speech from Mr. Alamgir, who has been named “Iconic Achiever of the Year”. His other achievements include Best Marketing Director by Rapport Bangladesh in 2002, “Retail Person of the Year” award at the Asian Retail Congress in 2014, and “The Marketing Superstar Award 2019” by Channel I and Brand Forum. The Chair of the program, Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, Hon’ble Adviser, BoT, SEU, then took the floor to thank Mr. Alamgir for sharing his experiences and achievements. The program ended with the vote of thanks from the Dean of Southeast Business School, Prof. Dr. Md. Serajul Islam, who emphasized on the importance of students getting the opportunity to learn about the life and achievements of a great leader to help shape their bright future.

A reunion of alumna and existing female students of the department of textile engineering was held on 26 May 2023 at permanent campus of Southeast University. The objective of the program was “To inspire existing female students of the department of textile engineering, Southeast University by alumna of the department”.


A good number of alumna and existing female students attended the program. Students organized discussion a session and cultural program at the event. Faculty members also attended the program to inspire all the participants.

On behalf of the Southeast University (SEU) family, a delegation led by Prof. Dr. AFM Mafizul Islam, Vice Chancellor, SEU congratulated and greeted Prof. Dr. Kazi Shahidullah, with flowers for getting reappointment as the Chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC) for second consecutive term on June 5, 2023. The team was comprised of Adviser to BoT, SEU Trust Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, Registrar Maj Gen Kazi Fakhruddin Ahmed (Retd), and Secretary of BoT Mr. Mohammad Tarik Al Jalil.

The EEE department of Southeast University organized an on-site visit at the DPDC Shyampur 132kv Substation on 5 May 2023. Dhaka Power Distribution Company Limited (DPDC) is one of the largest power distribution companies in Bangladesh. Shyampur Substation is one of the biggest 132kV/33kV station in Dhaka.


Forty-eight students from the EEE department visited the substation to gain hands on experience. This visit helped them to relate the practical facts with the theoretical concept. Students obtained knowledge about CT/PT connections, lighting arrester and Relays, Circuit breakers, insulations, 132/33kV transformer etc. Dr. Md. Asif Hossain, Engr. Abdullah Al Mahfazur Rahman, Md. Rounakul Islam and Engr. Tawsif Hossain Chowdhury supervised the whole tour.

The department of textile engineering, Southeast University organized "Meet the Successful Alumni" on 30 May 2023 at permanent campus. A good number of faculty members and existing students attended the program. The program started with recitation from the Holy Quran. Eanamul Haque Nizam, Assistant Professor and Moderator, Southeast Textile club and Mr. ABM Foisal, Assistant Professor delivered welcome speech and vote of thanks respectively. Two guest speakers, Engr. Faysal Alam, Manager, Merchandising, Poeticgem International Limited, alumnus and Engr. Suvro Dev Saha, Head of Sustainable Production, Global Apparel GmbH, alumnus inspired existing students at this event. Ms. Samia Jahan Tofa, Lecturer was responsible for anchoring the session.

A group of Chinese delegates visited the Department of Textile Engineering, Southeast University (SEU) on 23 May, 2023. The delegates visited different laboratories of the department. Mr. ZHANGXUEWU (Chairman, Hubie Jintian Textile Co. Ltd.), Mr. YOUDONGDONG (Senior Manager, Jiangsu Sainty Kasin Trade Co. Ltd.), Mr. YANGQIDONG (Shanghai Challenge Textile Co. Ltd.), Mr. ZHOUKAIHUI (Chairman, Reton Outdoor Sports Products, Xiamen, Co. Ltd.), and Prof. WANGHUA from Donghua University, accompanied the team. Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin (Advisor to BoT), Dr. Syed Atiqur Rahman (Chairman), Prof. Dr. Engr. ANM Ahmed Ullah, Prof. Dr. Arun Kanti Guha, Mr. Tipu Sultan (Assistant Professor and Coordinator, Regular Program), Mr. Shamim Alam (Assistant Professor and Coordinator, Evening Program), Engr. Md. Eanamul Haque Nizam (Assistant Professor and Moderator, Textile Club) and Mr. ABM Foisal (Assistant Professor) were present. Engr. Mahbubur Rahman, CEO (R&G, Bangladesh) and Alumnus, Department of Textile Engineering organized the visit. On behalf of Southeast University Authority, Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin welcomed them to Southeast University and expressed his desire to enhance collaboration between Chinese investors/academicians and Southeast University management.

The students of Level-3, Term-3 of Department of Architecture were taken to an existing high-rise building situated at Banani on 20 May 2023 to gain understanding for their ongoing design studio project on high-rise. The building named lighthouse is designed and managed by Volume Zero ltd, one of the top most Architectural consultancy office in Bangladesh. Mohammad Ismail moonna, Architect, Volumezero Ltd. and Engineer MD Ariful islam, Deputy manager, Spacezero Ltd. gave the students a tour of the building and explained the project thoroughly.


After having a rigorous surveying session along with brief from the project Architect and Engineer, the students were taken to the office of Volume zero Ltd to have a session with the Principal Architect Mohammad Foyez Ullah, Volumezero Ltd. The students were accompanied by Ar. Monirul Islam, Associate Professor and design studio course teacher Ar. Nafisa Bari, Assistant Professor.

The authority of Nepal-Bangladesh Friendship Society and Southeast Asia Business Partnership has given the award titled “Nepal-Bangladesh Friendship Award 2023” to Professor Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rahim, Director BBA of Southeast University (SEU) for his special contribution to education sector in a program held at Kathmandu, Nepal on 12 th May 2023. In this program, Mr. Sudan Kirati, Honorable Minister, Cultural Tourism and Civil Aviation, Government of Nepal was present as the Chief Guest and Mr. Md. Mokhles ur Rahman, Former Secretary, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh was present as the Special Guest. Former Ministers, Secretaries, Directors of different Departments, Leaders of different Political Parties and the President of the Students’ Association of Nepal were also present in the program. Dr. Rahim gave thanks to the authority of Nepal-Bangladesh Friendship Society and Southeast Asia Business Partnership for presenting the award to him. He specially mentioned in his speech that this kind of award will inspire him a lot to work for the development of education of Bangladesh, Nepal and other countries of the world. Earlier also he got awards from different countries of the world, institutions including the prestigious INSO Award for his research activities and publications.

Department of Career & Professional Development Services (CPDS) of Southeast University (SEU) organized a Corporate Grooming Session on 15 May 2023 for the students of Economics Department focused on the importance of corporate grooming and business etiquette at workplace.  The session includes the right place to apply for a job, researching on the organiztion before interview, interview process and techniques, tips for preparing a perfect cv, how to work in a more professional manners, applying the right grooming technique for professional outlook, positive personality traits, skills employers seek in job candidates, exploring the right career interest, etc.


Students also informed about how they can act professionally and exercise proper manners when engaging with others in the professional level. Ms. Tahnia Shahid, Director of CPDS conducted the session. Senior faculty members of the Economics Department were also present during the session.

Textile Engineer's Alumni Association of Southeast University (TEAASEU) organized iftar and dua mahfil with University management, faculty members, existing students and alumni on 14 th April, 2023 at University cafeteria of the permanent campus. The event started with a recitation from the Holy Quran followed by welcome speech by General Secretary, Engr. An-Nur Rasel and closing speech by President, Engr. Saiful Islam Raju. Students of the evening program of the Department of Textile Engineering, Southeast University organized Iftar Mahfil for faculty members, existing students and alumni on 31 st , March 2023 at cafeteria of permanent campus. The Hult Prize is an annual prestigious competition for ideas solving pressing social issues, such as food security, water access, energy, and education. Former U.S. president Mr. Bill Clinton selects the challenge topic and announces the winner each September, with the selected idea receiving US$1 million in seed capital to be launched into a social enterprise. The Southeast University authority is thrilled to announce that Hult Prize at Southeast University on-campus Champion team "Green Threads" has selected for regional summit to be held in Dubai in June, 2023. The team members are existing students of the Department of Textile Engineering, Mr. Aminul Islam Nishat, Mr. Md. Fahimur Rahman Fahim and Ms. Nusrat Jahan Puthee. Mr. Mazharul Islam, an existing student of the Department of Textile Engineering worked as campus director to lead all teams. It should be noted that, 700 teams have been selected from 2500 teams in Asia region to participate in Dubai summit. The Textile Engineer’s Alumni Association of Southeast University (TEAASEU) has organized campus recruitment in association with the Department of Textile Engineering and Textile Club of Southeast University on 16 th April, 2023 at Southeast University permanent campus, Tejgaon, Dhaka 1208. The Lithe Group Ltd. (Gazipur) was the recruiter of this event. Mr. Arifur Rahman Robin (AGM, Marketing, Merchandising & Business Development and Alumnus of Southeast University), Mr. Risal Siddique (Alumnus of Southeast University) and Mr. M.D.H. Mukul (Alumnus of Southeast University) from the Lithe Group and Mr. Syed Iftakhar Ahmad (Lecturer, Department of Textile Engineering, Southeast University & Assistant Moderator, Southeast Textile Club) were present as members of recruitment committee. A good number of candidates were selected for appointment after critical assessment through oral test.

Department of Economics, Southeast University organized a seminar on "Characteristics of the Banking Sector: A Comparative Analysis" at their permanent campus on 22 nd March, 2023. The session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Md. Serajul Islam, Dean, SBS. Ms Ruba Rummana, Associate Professor and Chairperson, Department of Economics was the welcome speaker. Dr. Taufiq Hassan, General Manager (Research), PKSF was invited as the resource person. Faculty members and students of the Department of Economics and School of Business were present at the seminar. The seminar was an informative session for the students as they got to know about the role of the banking sector in the economy. The students also had a question and answer session with the resource person.

Southeast University (SEU) organized a Discussion Program titted "Bangabandhu & Independence Day" and held a cultural program to celebrate 103rd birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and 52 nd Independence Day of Bangladesh on 30 March 2023, at permanent campus Tejgaon, Dhaka.


Prof. Dr. AFM Mafizul Islam, Vice Chancellor of Southeast University presided over the program while Prof. Dr. ANM Mesquat Uddin, Adviser, Board of Trustees and Maj Gen Kazi Fakhruddin Ahmed (Retd), Registrar spoke on that occasion. The 124^th meeting of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of Southeast University Trust (SEUT) was held on Thursday, 19 March 2023 at 6:00 pm in the BoT Conference Room at the permanent campus of the university in Tejgaon. The meeting was presided by Mr. Rezaul Karim, Chairman of BoT, SEUT. BoT members discussed various academic and administrative issues and took important decisions. The members of BoT provided valuable guidance to the management of the university, reviewed the progress of various activities and focused on future plans of the university.

Freshers’ Reception & Orientation Program of the newly admitted students of Spring Semester 2023 of Southeast University (SEU) held on 20 March 2023 at the SEU Permanent Campus, Tejgaon, Dhaka. Prof. Dr. AFM Mafizul Islam, Vice Chancellor of SEU chaired the program while Mr. Rezaul Karim, Chairman, Board of Trustees, SEU Trust was present as the Chief Guest.

Southeast University observed International Mother Language Day on 21 February, 2023 in memory of language martyrs. To observe the Day SEU organized a discussion meeting and cultural program. Prof. Dr. AFM Mafizul Islam, Vice Chancellor of Southeast University presided over the program while Prof. Dr. ANM Mesquat Uddin, Adviser, Board of Trustees and Maj Gen Kazi Fakhruddin Ahmed (Retd), Registrar spoke on the occasion. The day is celebrated with Rally in the morning and by laying floral wreaths at the Martyr's Altar at the University. Among others, Deans, Directors, Chairmen, faculty members, officials and students were present in the program.

A Doa Mahfil on arrival at Permanent Campus of Southeast University (SEU) at Tejgaon, Dhaka held on 17 February 2023. Mr. Rezaul Karim, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, SEU Trust; Prof. Dr. AFM Mofizul Islam, Vice-Chancellor of SEU and Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, Adviser to BoT, SEU Trust spoke on the occasion. Doa was conducted by Mawlana Syed Zulfiquer Jahor. Among others, Members of BoT, Registrar, Deans, Directors, Chairmen, Faculty members, Officials and Students participated in the program.

Southeast Computer Club organized an event titled "A Day with Successful Alumni" on 11 February 2023 at the Seminar Hall, Banani, Dhaka. Two of the successful and prominent Alumni of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Southeast University Mr. Md. Iftekhar Alam Ishaque, Deputy Chief Technical officer, SSL Wireless and Vice President, SEU CSE Alumni Association; and Mr. Md. Anower Perves, Senior DevOps Engineer, Tirzok Private Limited and General Secretary, SEU CSE Alumni Association were the guests of the program.


Faculty members and students from the Department of CSE joined this event. Two Alumni shared experiences from their academic and job life. They provided career guidelines to the current students. Students asked them questions and they answered them with a friendly environment. They also thanked the department and club for arranging this kind of program which will help to strengthen the connection between the Alumni and current students.

Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry, (WICCI) celebrated International Women’s Day by organizing India -Bangladesh Conclave & Exhibition on 10-12th March 2023 in Kolkata. WICCI ‘s India Bangladesh Business Council President Dr. Sharmista Raha organized the event primarily with an aim to bolster the morale of the team members and to look into trade opportunities with neighboring Bangladesh.


The conclave titled “Together We Rise” was graced by Md. Shamshul Arif, First Secretary of Bangladesh High Commission in Kolkata as Chief Guest who spoke about the ongoing commercial exchanges between the two countries, India and Bangladesh and also promised the ladies for relevant help in future projects. Keynote speaker and special guest at the occasion was Ms. Ruba Ramanna, Chairperson and Associate Professor of Department of Economics, Southeast University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. She presented a paper on Women Entrepreneurship Development in Bangladesh and discussed about the challenges and opportunities of being a women entrepreneur and the steps taken by the Bangladesh government to support the entrepreneurial ventures by the women in Bangladesh. A MOU was signed between The Southeast University, Dhaka and India Bangladesh Business Council of WICCI for further cooperation in various fields. The signatories were Dr. A.F.M Mofizul Islam, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Southeast University and Dr. Sharmista Raha. Md. Joynal Abedin, former secretary of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industries made a presentation on “Opportunities in Bangladesh”. Debasmita Moulik, Academic Advisor Moscow State Linguistic University spoke on opportunities of multilateral cooperation. Dr. K. B. Choudhary, Chairman, Henry Mekin Infrastructure Development Conglomerate also spoke on potential opportunities of Business collaboration amongst women entrepreneurs. Now the graduates of the Department of Economics from Southeast University will be able to complete their internship under WICCI as per the signed MOU.

Department of Economics organized a program titled “Career Opportunities for Economics Graduates” on 6 th March 2023 as part of the co-curricular activities of the department. The program took place new at permanent campus. The main motive of the program was to enlighten the students about the career opportunities with IFC, World Bank group.


The session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Md. Serajul Islam, Dean SASS while Prof. Dr. Abdul Hakim, Director IQAC, Prof. Dr. Abdur Rahim, Director of BBA Program, Dr. Shahanaz Sultana, Chairperson, Department of English, Dr. Hamida Begum, Chairperson, Department of Bangla Language & literature, Ruba Rummana, Chairperson, Department of Economics and faculty members of the Department of Economics as well as other departments were present on the occasion. Dr. Afifa Raihana, Hon’ble Senior Environmental Specialist, IFC, World Bank Group, was present as the resource person of the session. She shared her glorious journey and talked about the different possible career opportunities for economics graduates in the real world. She conducted one to one consultation with the students and attended their queries. She also thanked the SEU authority for arranging the program as it aimed to prepare the future leaders of the country. The program was a success with the enthusiastic participation of the students of the Department of Economics.

The Department of Textile Engineering of Southeast University organized annual picnic on 17 th January, 2023 at Mohammadi Agro Garden located at Dhamrai, Dhaka. Approximately three hundred exiting students, faculty members and staff joined the picnic. All participants enjoyed the day long picnic. They participated in various sports (football, cricket, pillow passing etc.), swimming, raffle draw and a cultural program organized by the picnic organizing and relevant subcommittees. The annual picnic provided an opportunity for members of the department to have fun together and promote a strong sense of community.

The department of textile engineering of Southeast University organized a mill visit at Ananta Jeans Wear Limited and Paradise Limited located at Tongi, Gazipur on 16 th January, 2023. The students of the 41 st , 42 nd (regular) and 6 th (evening) batches accompanied by faculty members, Dr. Mainul Morshed (Assistant Professor) and Engr. Md. Eanamul Haque Nizam (Assistant Professor), department of textile engineering went for the visit. The students acquired the industrial knowledge about the production and washing of jeans garments.

Students from the Department of English of Southeast University (SEU) presented research papers at the conference on “Discover English 2022: Students’ Conference on English Language and Literature” held recently at American International University of Bangladesh (AIUB). Dr. Md. Mahadhi Hasan, Assistant Professor, Department of English, has supervised Musharrat Mustari, Tasnim Rahman, Ishrat Jahan, Afnan Fatima Rodoshi, and Horayra Fatima Sheata to the conference. The students have presented research papers on significant issues related to language teaching and education. Researchers and academicians from different institutions appreciated the impactful research and active presence of Southeast University at the conference. Presenters received certificates for their excellent research and presentation. Four other students namely Kashfia Faruk, Samiha Sultana, Moumita Ahmed and Sumaiya Tanha also participated in the conference.

The Department of English of Southeast University (SEU) organized a two-day long workshop on Recitation and Dramatic Reading on 10 and 19 January 2023, at the Seminar Room of the English Building of Southeast University, Banani, to develop recitation skills among the students. Dr. Md. Mahadhi Hasan, Assistant Professor, Department of English was present at the inaugural session on 10 January 2023. S. M. Razib Hassan, Lecturer, Department of English was the resource person of the workshop. A number of students of different batches and alumni attended and received certificates of the workshop. Southeast Model United Nations Club has successfully organized 'Southeast MUN Conference & Certificate Awarding Ceremony' on 17 January 2023. The program was delighted by the presence of Chief Guest Mr. Quazi Habibul Haque, Former Permanent Representative for Bangladesh to UN Agencies in Rome while Chair of the event was Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, Adviser to BoT, SEU Trust.


The program was blissfully arranged in the presence of Moderator of Southeast MUN Club Ms. Sadia Afroz Binte Siraj and Assistant Moderator Mr. Arfan Ahmed. Mr. Parvez Jibon and Ms. Mahapara Sanjana, were judges of the Southeast MUN Conference. The Certificate Awarding Ceremony has been held in the afternoon. We congratulate the recipients of the Best Delegate Award Winner Abdullah Fahad from the Department of Law, the Outstanding Team Award Winner Ukraine, and organizers who were awarded for organizing this stunning program.

On January 09, 2023 Southeast Business Innovation Forum (SBIF) has successfully organized an Inter College Wall Magazine and Quiz Competition titled "BeesBuzz 1.0" where the students participated with their creative ideas. The event was specially organized for the college students to unleash their creativity. 173 registered students from more than 20 reputed colleges participated spontaneously. At the first phase of the program, there was a quiz competition for the students. The next phase was the wall magazine exhibition. The participants demonstrated their creative and artistic skills through their wall magazines. The Judges of the event were our honorable Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin Sir, Adviser to BOT, Prof. Dr. Md. Serajul Islam, Dean of SBS and Prof. Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rahim, Director of BBA program. The leader of each group presented their ideas promptly.


Some other special personalities were present as guests. They are our Honorable Moderator of SBIF S.M Raihan Uddin, Najifa Tasnim Teesha, Asst. Moderator of SBIF and Mr. Tawfeeq Hasan, Lecturer & Coordinator of BBA Program. Besides, Moniruzzaman sir, assistant professor, Head of the Management Department of Milestone College, was present in the event. And the last phase of the program was the award giving ceremony. Commemorative medals, crests and certificates were awarded to the winners of the competition. The college ambassadors were awarded with crests. Some of the volunteers who worked tirelessly over the last few days of the event were provided with Award of Appreciation. And afterwards the moderator of Southeast Business Innovation Forum, S.M Raihan Uddin announced the closing of the event with his vote of thanks.

Department of Career & Professional Development Services (CPDS) arranged a short program at Dhaka Lit Fest for SEU students to introduce them to explore different opportunities for future education and profession.

Southeast University Social Services Club (SEUSSC) distributed winter clothing at the cold-hit area of the northern part of the country in Tetulia, Panchagarh on 30 December 2022. The members of the club raised funds from the SEU students, faculties and administrative staff and bought blankets for the poor and underprivileged people of the area. A number of 400 local people received blankets form the club members.


Dr. Md. Mahadhi Hasan, Assistant Professor, Department of English, SEU and Mohammad Faiyaz Hasan Lecturer, Southeast Business School were present during the distribution program. Executive Committee member and general members of SEUSSC were actively involved in this program. The program was supervised by Ms. Bahreen Khan and Ms. Humayra Binte Bahar, Moderator and the Asst. Moderator of the club respectively.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between United International University (UIU) and Southeast University (SEU) for research collaboration on 13 December 2022 (Tuesday) at UIU Campus, United City, Madani Avenue, Dhaka- 1212. Prof. Dr. AFM Mafizul Islam, Vice Chancellor of SEU was present as the Chief Guest in the ceremony while Prof. Dr. Abul Kashem Mia, Vice-Chancellor (In Charge) of UIU was the Special Guest. Prof. Dr. M. Rezwan Khan, Executive Director of IAR & Former VC of UIU presided over the ceremony.


The Vice Chancellor of UIU and Vice Chancellor of SEU signed the MoU on behalf of their respective universities. Prof. Dr. Chowdhury Mofizur Rahman, Adviser to BoT of UIU, Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, Adviser to BOT of SEU Trust, Dr. Farhana Ferdousi, Director, Institute of Research & Training (IRT) of SEU along with the faculty members and high officials were present in the program.

This MoU will promote collective research and high-quality publications in reputable journals, as well as facilitate cooperative research partnership opportunities between SEU and UIU. Research funds will be awarded to Faculty Members from both universities’ research fields.

Textile Engineer's Alumni Association of Southeast University (TEAASEU) organized Textile Premier League 2022 (Season-01) supported by SEU Textile Club. The program was held on 26 August 2022 at the playground of Osmani Hall of Bangladesh University of Textiles, Tejgaon. Mr. Masudur Rahman, President, Textile Engineering Division, The Institute of Engineers Bangladesh (IEB) was present as a Chief Guest while Mr. Shahidul Islam, Player, Bangladesh National Cricket Team, Mr. Ashad Hossain, Vice President, Textile Engineering Division, IEB, Mr. Abdullah Al Mamun, Executive Member, Textile Engineering Division, IEB, Mr. Md. Shakhawat Hossain, Vice President, ITET, Mr. Foez Ahmed Shahin, Managing Director, Adi Nur Group, Prof. Syed Fakhrul Hassan, Former Chairman, Department of Textile Engineering, SEU, Dr. Syed Atiqur Rahman, Chairman, Department of Textile Engineering, SEU, and Dr. ANM Ahmed Ullah, Associate Professor, Department of Textile Engineering, SEU were present as Special Guests.

A cordial meeting of Textile Engineer's Alumni Association of Southeast University (SEU) held with the authority of SEU on 20 November 2022. Prof. Dr. AFM Mafizul Islam, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, Adviser to BoT, SEU Trust, Maj Gen Kazi Fakhruddin Ahmed (Retd), Registrar, Mr. Saiful Islam Raju, President, Mr. Nazmul Hasan Sarker Plabon, Cultural Secretary and Mr. Mohammad Jahid Iqbal, Founder President, Southeast University Games & Sports Club were present in the meeting.

On behalf of the Southeast University Ms. Ruba Rummana, Chairperson, Department of Economics attended a seminar and addressed the gathering organized by Nandangachi Degree College, Charghat, Rajshahi. The seminar was organized to observe the National Martyred Intellectual Day on 14 December 2022.


Ms. Tajmira Khatun, Vice President of Charghat Upazilla, Mr. Md. Mahfuzul Hasnain, Social Worker and Contributor also spoke at the Seminar while Principal of Nandangachi Degree College Prof. Wahedul Islam presided over the Seminar. The speakers discussed the significance of the National Martyred Intellectual Day. There was also a tree plantation ceremony to mark the day.

Department of Career & Professional Development Services (CPDS) of Southeast University (SEU) organized a workshop on 19 December 2022 at SEU Seminar Hall, Banani, Dhaka. Community Development for Peace (CDP), a nonprofit organization and BRAC Postgraduate Program for Disaster Management (PPDM) supported CPDS to conduct this workshop. Ms. Tahnia Shahid, Director of CPDS, inaugurated the session with her welcome remarks. Resource person Dr. Arif Rahman Himel conducted the session with practical demonstration which was very effective for the participants.


They learnt the tools and technics as a first responder during any man-made disaster or accidents. Mohammad Ferdaus, President, CDP shared his experiences as a volunteer at Rana Plaza incident and others where he worked as first responder volunteer. Chief Guest of the program, Brig. Gen. Engr. Ali Ahmed Khan (Retd.), Former Director General, Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defense delivered his remark and shared the importance of the workshop. Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, Hon’ble Adviser to BOT, SEUT emphasized in his remark that this workshop was truly needed and well-timed as SEU will be moving to its permanent campus soon. The workshop was ended with a certificate giving ceremony.

Southeast Business School (SBS) of Southeast University (SEU) and Padma Bank Ltd. jointly organized a seminar on 'Financial Literacy and Banking Career' on 07 December 2022 at the SEU Seminar Hall, Banani, Dhaka. The program was chaired by Prof. Dr. AFM Mafizul Islam, Vice Chancellor of SEU while Mr. Tarek Reaz Khan, Managing Director and CEO, Padma Bank Ltd. was the Chief Guest of the program. The Adviser of BoT, SEU Trust Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, Dean of Southeast Business School Prof. Dr. Md. Serajul Islam, Director of BBA Program Prof. Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rahim, Senior Executive Vice President & Chief Human Resource Officer, Padma Bank Ltd. Mr. M Ahsan Ullah Khan delivered speeches in the seminar. They thoroughly discussed about financial literacy and banking career in the program for the betterment of the students.


The second part of the program contained presentation from different resource persons of Padma Bank Ltd. Mr. Rakibul Hasan Chowdhury, Head of Retail & SME presented about the services provided by Padma Bank Ltd. and Ms. Nafisa Ara, Head of Segments, Retail Banking encouraged the students for opening savings account and provided information about opening student profile, throughout her presentation. Mr. M Ahsan Ullah Khan, Senior Executive Vice President & Chief Human Resource Officer presented about CV writing and interview skills for the students of the Southeast University. Finally, the program was concluded by providing certificates to all the participants of the program.

Southeast University (SEU) organized a Discussion Session and Cultural Program to celebrate the Victory Day on 19 December 2022. Prof. Dr. AFM Mafizul Islam, Vice Chancellor of SEU chaired the program while Freedom Fighter Mofidul Hoque, Founder Trustee, Liberation War Museum was present as Chief Guest.

Institute of Research & Training (IRT) of Southeast University (SEU) in collaboration with the Bangladesh Society for Private University Academics (BSPUA) organized a two-day training from 11 to 12 December 2022 on “Structural Equation Modeling” using Smart PLS 4.0, at Southeast University, Banani, to develop research skills among the faculty members. Prof. Dr. AFM Mafizul Islam, Vice Chancellor of SEU inaugurated the session. Prof. Dr. Mamun Habib, Vice President, Research and Innovation introduced BSPUA during the session. Dr. Imran Mahmud, Head and Associate Professor, Department of Software Engineering, Daffodil International University facilitated the two-day training session. Dr. Farhana Ferdousi, Director of IRT coordinated the program.


A total of 14 participants attended and received certificates of the training. Prof. Dr. Farid A Sobhani, President, BSPUA and Prof. Dr. ANM Mesquat Uddin, Adviser to BoT, SEU Trust distributed the certificate among the participants. Dr. Amlan Haque, Central Queensland University, and Prof. Md. Humayun Kabir, Sol Plaatje University were also present as Special Guest of the program.

Southeast Business School (SBS) and Department of Economics of Southeast University (SEU) jointly arranged a seminar on ‘Foreign Exchange and External Sector Management of Bangladesh’ on 24 November 2022 at the Seminar Hall, Banani, Dhaka. The program was chaired by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Southeast University Prof. Dr. AFM Mafizul Islam while Hon’ble Adviser to the Board of Trustees of SEU Prof. Dr. ANM Mesquat Uddin, Dean of Southeast Business School Prof. Dr. Md. Serajul Islam, Director of BBA Program Prof. Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rahim, and Chairperson of the Department of Economics Ms. Ruba Rummana delivered speeches in the program.


Mr. Md. Bayazid Sarker, Additional Director of Bangladesh Bank presented a keynote paper in the seminar. The keynote speaker and other distinguished speakers discussed about foreign exchange and external sector management of Bangladesh in the seminar and recommended some suggestions to overcome the present problems prevailing in the financial sector of the country. Deans of different schools, Chairmen and Directors of different departments, faculty members, high officials, and a good number of students of Southeast University were present at the program.

Southeast Computer Club organized an event titled "Seminar on Skill Development and Career Opportunities in Freelancing" on 06 December 2022 at SEU Seminar Hall, Banani, Dhaka. Students from different departments of the university joined the seminar. Ms. Tahnia Shahid, Director, CPDS and Student Welfare Adviser, SEU inaugurated the seminar with her informative speech. Mr. Mohammad Shohel Rana, Lecturer, CSE and Moderator, Southeast Computer Club, delivered his valuable speech to the students. Mr. Md. Mijanur Rahman, Assistant Professor, CSE and Director, Center for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics said some words about the continuous spread of freelancing industry.


Mr. Faysal Hamid Hemel, Co-founder and Tech-Head of Shikhbe Sobai was the resource person of the seminar. He shared his experience of starting the freelancing career. Then he gave the participants a guideline about the freelancing industry. The guests gave certificates to the students who attended two days’ workshop on Social Media Marketing on 4 and 5 December, 2022. Mr. Mohammad Shohel Rana, Moderator and Mr. Mohammad Shohel Babu, Assistant Moderator greeted the audience and thanked the resource person. The event was illuminated with messages of thanks and greetings from the viewers present.

Southeast Economists' Forum (SEF), the Departmental Club of Economics Department, SEU organized a Poster Exhibition and Competition on 5 December, 2022 with enthusiastic participation of 9 teams from different departments of the university. The Mind Crusaders from Southeast Business School became Champion, TARA from department of law became First Runner-up and The Pharma Team from department of Pharmacy secured the position of Second Runner-up in the competition.

Mr. Md. Monirul Islam Rajib, Principal, Tongi Ideal College was also invited as special guest in the program. The aim of the poster exhibition was to correlate Economics with other disciplines and to allow students for some brainstorming establishing the contribution of different sectors such as: pharmaceuticals, ICT, textile, etc. to the economy of Bangladesh. The burning issues of the economy viz.: inequality, foreign reserve crisis, etc. were also addressed through the posters demonstrated by the students.

Three undergraduate students Ms. Sabrina Eva, Ms. Kashfia Faruk, and Ms. Moumita Ahmad represented the Department of English of Southeast University by making their debut presentation on their joint research paper at the 10th BELTA INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE 2022 held at ULAB Campus on 18-19 November. These students received the certificates from Professor Motikala Subba Dewan, the NELTA president. Ms. Adiba Murtaza, Lecturer, Department of English, guided them to present their research paper on an International platform. Hats off to the girls for braving this challenge!

Department of Career & Professional Development Services (CPDS) of Southeast University (SEU) organized a CV Writing Session for the Students of English Department on 04 December 2022 at SEU English Department, Banani, Dhaka. Ms. Tahnia Shahid, Director of CPDS was the Resource Person of the session. Students were informed about preparing their CVs effectively in modern method through the workshop.


The participants also learnt various aspects of CV & Cover Letter writing. At the end an interactive question and answer session were held, where students participated spontaneously.

Southeast Computer Club organized an event titled "Seminar on Software Test Automation and Career Opportunity" on 27 November 2022 at SEU Seminar Hall, Banani, Dhaka. Mr. Salman Rahman, Test Automation Professional, Sr. Software Engineer, CEFALO Bangladesh Ltd. and Founder of Road to SDET was the resource person for the seminar. Students of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering participated in this program.


The speaker presented the importance of software testing, its career opportunity and market demand, career path of an SQA engineer, automation tools and frameworks, etc. He gave complete guidelines for becoming a SQA engineer. Students asked their questions and showed interest in this sector. The participating students expressed their expectation to the club to organize this kind of event more in future. Department of Career & Professional Development Services (CPDS) of Southeast University (SEU) organized a session on Cyber Harassment and Safeguard Tips on 29 November 2022 at SEU Seminar Hall, Banani, Dhaka. Dr. Tanjir Rashid Soron, Psychiatrist, NiHealth Ltd. was the resource person of the session. Ms. Tahnia Shahid, Director of CPDS presented the welcome remark and introduced the resource person to the students.


Dr. Tanjir explianed how young generation become frustrated by facing various types of harassment through the online world and how to overcome from it. Students from different departments of SEU participated in the session. Ms. Nilima Yasmin, Manager, Marketing and Communication and Mr. Tanvir Rahman from NiHealth Ltd. were also present in the session.

Southeast Social Services Club (SSSC) in associate with Department of Career & Professional Services (CPDS) and GEIST International Foundation organized a voluntary program titled “Awareness Session on Women Hygiene” on 26 November 2022 at GEIST Center, Arambagh, Motijheel, Dhaka. During the session the Southeast Social Services Club took a great initiative to distribute sanitary napkins among the school and college going teenage girls.


Ms. Tahnia Shahid, Director of CPDS aware the female participants about the women health and menstrual hygiene management. Ms. Homayra Binte Bahar, Asst. Moderator of SSSC, club members and officials of GEIST Foundation were also present in the program.

Southeast Textile Club successfully organized a seminar on "Experience Sharing on Denim and Denim Development." The program was held on November 20, 2022 at the SEU Permanent Campus, Tejgaon, Dhaka. Mr. Md. Israfil Alam, Manager at R & D, Nice Denim Mills Limited and alumni of SEU Textile department was present as a Resource Person in this program. He shared his industrial experience and gave a great insight on denim fabric and its development.

Mr. Md. Shariful Haque, former president of the Southeast Textile Club was present as a guest. Faculty members of the Department of Textile Engineering, Southeast Textile Club members, and students of the Textile Engineering department were also present in the program.

Freshers’ Reception & Orientation Program of the newly admitted students of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) Department and the Department of Architecture for Fall Semester 2022 under the School of Science & Engineering (SSE) of Southeast University (SEU) was held on 24 November 2022 at the Seminar Hall, Banani, Dhaka.


Prof. Dr. AFM Mafizul Islam, Vice Chancellor of SEU chaired the program while Engr. Md. Anwar Hossain, Former Sr. Secretary, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh was present in the program as Chief Guest and Prof. Md. Sharif Uddin, Principal, Uttara Model College was the Special Guest. Maj Gen Kazi Fakhruddin Ahmed (Retd), Registrar of SEU welcomed newly enrolled students. Dr. Md. Sayeed Salam, Professor, Department of CSE & Convener of the program introduced respective faculty members to the students. Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, Adviser to BoT, Mr. Shahriar Manzoor, Chairman, Department of CSE and Ar. Dr. Masud Ur Rashid, Chairman, Department of Architecture also spoke. Two students shared their experiences and expectations from existing and newly admitted. Freshers’ Reception & Orientation Program of the newly admitted students of BBA & MBA program of Fall Semester 2022 under the Southeast Business School (SBS) of Southeast University (SEU) was held on 23 November 2022 at the SEU Seminar Hall, Banani, Dhaka. Prof. Dr. AFM Mafizul Islam, Vice Chancellor of SEU chaired the program while Prof. Dr. Khondoker Bazlul Hoque, President, Asiatic Society of Bangladesh was present in the program as Chief Guest and Prof. Bedar Uddin Ahmed, Principal, Dhaka City College was the Special Guest.

Two students shared their experiences and expectations from existing and newly admitted. Department of Career & Professional Development Services (CPDS) of Southeast University (SEU) organized a CV Writing Session for the Students of BBA Department on 22 November 2022 at SEU Admin Building, Banani, Dhaka. Ms. Tahnia Shahid, Director of CPDS was the Resource Person of the session. Prof. Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rahim, Director of BBA Program delivered the Welcome Speech and introduced the resource person to the students.


Students informed about preparing their CVs effectively in modern method from the workshop. The participants also learnt various aspects of CV & Cover Letter writing. At the end an interactive question and answer session held, where students participated spontaneously.

Southeast Business School (SBS) of Southeast University (SEU) was successfully arranged a program titled ‘Launching Ceremony of Southeast Business Review’ on 9 November 2022 at the Seminar Hall, Banani, Dhaka. The program was chaired by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of SEU Prof. Dr. AFM Mafizul Islam. Besides, the event got enlightened by the presence of the Hon’ble Adviser to the Board of Trustees of SEU Trust Prof. Dr. ANM Mesquat Uddin, Respected Registrar Maj Gen Kazi Fakruddin Ahmed (Retd.), Dean of SBS and Editor of Southeast Business Review Prof. Dr. Md. Serajul Islam, and Director of BBA Program & Associate Editor of Southeast Business Review Prof. Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rahim.

Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Southeast University Prof. Dr. AFM Mafizul Islam pointed out the significance of the Journal for a university and the way it conjures up the university teachers and students. Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, Hon’ble Adviser, BOT of SEU mentioned that research is always the top priority of Southeast University since its inception. Prof. Dr. Md. Serajul Islam, Dean of the School of Business and Editor of Southeast Business Review mentioned that the promulgation of the research work is for the welfare of mankind, and publishing journals and articles help to disseminate the knowledge. Deans of different schools, Chairmen and Directors of different departments and programs, faculty members, high officials, and a good number of researchers of Southeast University were also present at the program.

Final year students’ thesis grand jury of the Department of Architecture of Southeast University (SEU) has taken place in Jury Space, permanent campus, Tejgaon on 30 and 31 October 2022 from 10 am to 5 pm. Grand Jury is the biggest occasion of the Architecture department and passing students got peer group recognition from guest jurors. The jury consisted of Architects from academics and professional bodies and final-year students showed their caliber of exercising practical projects.


Through the grand thesis jury, eighteen students of the architecture department have fulfilled the major criterion to be professional architects. Eminent Architects and Academicians like Prof. Meer Mobashsher Ali, Dr. Zebun Nasreen Ahmed, Dr. Jasmin Ara Begum, Ar. A B M Mahbubul Malik, Ar. Feroz Ahmed, Ar. M. Wahid Asif, Ar. Ahmed Imtiaz Khan, Ar. Mahtab Hossain, Ar. Nabi Newaz Khan and more than 20 jurors were present. Ar. Masud Ur Rashid, Chairman of the Department of Architecture, inaugurated the session. Ar. Jubaida Gulshan Ara, Assistant Professor & studio teacher moderated the jury session. Ar. Syed Monirul Islam, Associate Professor & All Faculty Members, and students of the Architecture department of SEU and other Architecture schools were present at the program.

Southeast Social Services Club (SSSC) delightedly spends a day with the underprivileged on 18 November 2022 at Apon Ghor Foundation, Keraniganj, Dhaka. At that foundation there was around 40 underprivileged people for whom SSSC arranged some lunch- snacks-gifts and played different types of games to make the day memorable and enjoyable.


At that program, Ms. Tahnia Shahid, Director of Career & Professional Development Services (CPDS) and Mr. Md. Arafat Rahman, Assistant Officer from CPDS was also present along with 20 members of Southeast Social Services Club.

সাউথইস্ট কালচারাল সোসাইটি, সাউথইস্ট বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ছাত্র ছাত্রীদের নিয়ে ১৪ নভেম্বর থেকে ১৬ নভেম্বর পর্যন্ত তিনদিন ব্যাপি "সাউথইস্ট কালচারাল ট্যালেন্ট হান্ট ২০২২" এর আয়োজন করে। আয়োজন এর প্রধান উদ্দেশ্য ছিলো দীর্ঘ করোনা মহামারীর কারণে স্থবির হয়ে যাওয়া প্রতিভাবান ছাত্র ছাত্রীদের প্রতিভাগুলো সকলের মাঝে প্রকাশ করা এবং সেরাদের বাছাই করা।

অনুষ্ঠানটি গান, নাচ, কবিতা আবৃত্তি, অঙ্কন এবং অভিনয় এই পাঁচটি বিভাগে বিভক্ত ছিলো। তিনব্যাপী এই অনুষ্ঠানের প্রথম দুইদিন ছিলো অডিশন রাউন্ড, যেখানে প্রায় শতাধিক প্রতিযোগী অংশগ্রহণ করে এবং প্রতিটি বিভাগ থেকে কিছু সংখ্যক করে প্রতিযোগীকে তাদের যোগ্যতার ভিত্তিতে ফাইনাল রাউন্ড এর জন্য নির্বাচিত করে 'ইয়েস' কার্ড প্রদান করা হয় এবং ফাইনাল রাউন্ডে আবারো প্রতিযোগীদের পারফরম্যান্স এর ভিত্তিতে বিচাররকমন্ডলী প্রতিটি বিভাগ থেকে তিন জন করে সেরাদের বাছাই করে নেন।


প্রতিযোগিতামূলক এই অনুষ্ঠানে গানের বিচারক হিসেবে ছিলেন স্টুডিও জি’র মিউজিক কম্পোজার খন্দকার গালিব এবং সাউথইস্ট কালচারাল সোসাইটির সাবেক সহ-সভাপতি ও স্টুডিও বৈঠার মিউজিক কম্পোজার কন্ঠশিল্পী কাওসার আহমেদ বিজন। নাচের বিচারক হিসেবে ছিলেন সাউথইস্ট কালচারাল সোসাইটির সাবেক সভাপতি সাবরিনা ইসলাম অনি, সাউথইস্ট কালচারাল সোসাইটির সাবেক সাধারণ সম্পাদক রিপু আরমান হোসেন এবং ভৈরবী’র প্রতিষ্ঠাতা পরিচালক ইলিয়াস নবী ফয়সাল। কবিতা আবৃত্তিতে ছিলেন সাউথইস্ট কালচারাল সোসাইটির মডারেটর ড. ইশরাত জাহান বুলবুল এবং সাউথইস্ট কালচারাল সোসাইটির অ্যাসিস্ট্যান্ট মডারেটর ড. মাসুদ শামস আলদীন। অভিনয়ের বিচারক হিসেবে ছিলেন সাউথইস্ট কালচারাল সোসাইটির সাবেক সভাপতি বিধান চন্দ্র দে এবং সাউথইস্ট কালচারাল সোসাইটির সাবেক সভাপতি আজহার মাহমুদ আসিব। অঙ্কনের বিচারক ছিলেন সাউথইস্ট কালচারাল সোসাইটির সাবেক সহ-সভাপতি উৎপল ঘোষ শুভ।বিশেষ বিচারক এবং অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন বিখ্যাত সঙ্গীত শিল্পী প্রয়াত খালিদ হাসান মিলুর বড় ছেলে, সাউথইস্ট বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের প্রাক্তন ছাত্র, সঙ্গীত পরিচালক ও কন্ঠশিল্পী প্রতীক হাসান।

ফাইনাল রাউন্ড এবং পুরষ্কার বিতরণ অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন সাউথইস্ট বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ট্রাস্টি বোর্ডের উপদেষ্টা অধ্যাপক ড. এ এন এম মেশকাত উদ্‌দীন, ব্যবসায় প্রশাসন অনুষদের ডিন অধ্যাপক ড. মো: সিরাজুল ইসলাম, ট্রাস্টি বোর্ডের সচিব মুহাম্মদ তারিক আল জলিল, বিসিপিআর বিভাগের পরিচালক মুহাম্মদ ইমতিয়াজ, অর্থনীতি বিভাগের প্রধান রুবা রুম্মানা, বাংলা ভাষা ও সাহিত্য বিভাগের প্রধান ড. হামিদা বেগম, ইংরেজি বিভাগের প্রধান আলিয়া শাহনুর আমিন, সিপিডিএস বিভাগের পরিচালক তাহনিয়া শাহিদ প্রমূখ।

Teachers and students from the Department of English of Southeast University (SEU) presented research papers at the “International Conference on Innovation and Transformation for Development-ITD-2022” held from 29 to 30 October 2022 at Green University of Bangladesh. Dr. Md. Mahadhi Hasan, Assistant Professor, Department of English, and four students from BA and MA in English programs presented at the conference. Adneen Rahman, Anika Shikder, and Umma Mahabuba Barsha from MA in English, and Sayeda Zainab Hasan from BA in English jointly presented three research papers at the conference. Their research revealed significant findings on e-assessment, plagiarism, and online teaching experience.

The students conducted the studies under the supervision of Dr. Mahadhi aiming to present at the conferences and publish in high-indexed journals for bringing quality changes to academia and society. Researchers and academicians from different institutions appreciated the impactful research and active presence of Southeast University at the conference. Presenters received certificates for their excellent research and presentation. SEU partially funded the participation at the conference as part of its journey to excellence.

The department of English of Southeast University (SEU) organized a workshop on “Creative Writing and EFL: A Motivational and Skill Building Powerhouse” on 01 November 2022 at the Banani Seminar Hall. Prof. Patrick Thomas Dougherty, Ed.D., Dean of Academic Affairs, Akita International University, Japan was the resource person for the workshop while Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, Adviser to BoT, SEU Trust, chaired the session and handed over the crest to Prof. Patrick. Ms. Aliya Shahnoor Ameen, Chairperson, Department of English, delivered the welcome speech. Ms. Adiba Murtaza, Lecturer, department of English, introduced the resource person to the audience and moderated the workshop.


It was a fruitful event with enthusiastic participation of sixty-five teachers and students of the department of English. There were few other teacher participants from different private universities and colleges. Their active participation contributed to the success of the event. The Department of English will continue organizing workshops, as it always does, for the development of teachers and the students.

The Southeast Business School (SBS) of Southeast University (SEU) arranged a Farewell Ceremony for the students of MBA Program who have successfully completed their degrees in the Summer 2022 Semester on 29 October 2022 at the Seminar Hall, Banani, Dhaka. The program was inaugurated with a welcoming speech by Mr. Tarafder Md. Mehedi Al-Masud, Assistant Professor and Coordinator, MBA Program, Southeast Business School.


Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, Hon’ble Adviser, BOT chaired the program while Prof. Dr. Md. Serajul Islam, Dean of SBS, Prof. Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rahim, Director of the BBA Program, Dr. Nargis Akhter, Professor of SBS and Dr. Farhana Ferdousi, Assistant Professor, SBS and Director, IRT also spoke on the occasion.

Department of Career & Professional Development Services (CPDS) of Southeast University (SEU) organized a workshop on Building Career in Buying Houses on 13 November 2022 at SEU Seminar Hall, Banani, Dhaka. Mr. Shabik Hasan, Merchandiser (Menswear), Marks & Spencer, Textile Alumni of SEU and Ms. Zinia Zahin, Merchandiser (Womenswear), Marks & Spencer were the resource persons of the session.


Ms. Tahnia Shahid, Director of CPDS presented the welcome remark and introduced the recourse persons to the students. Students from different departments of SEU participated in the workshop spontaneously.

The Department of Textile Engineering of Southeast University (SEU) organized an industry visit at Pretty Industrial Group on 26 October 2022. The students of 4th Batch (evening program) accompanied by two faculty members Engr. Eanamul Haque Nizam, Assistant Professor & Mr. Md. Syed Iftakharul Ahmed, Lecturer, went for this visit. Industrial visit is one of the most tactical methods of teaching. The main reason behind this - it lets students to know things practically through interaction, working methods and employment practices. Moreover, it gives exposure on practical handling of equipment.


Basically, Pretty Industrial Group consists of Large Number of floors where the knitting, dyeing, cutting, sewing, finishing, quality control, washing sections are located.

Southeast English Club successfully organized a workshop titled "Workshop on Enhancing Spoken English Skills" for college-going students to train them to speak English with confidence and let them know about Southeast University and its progress on 29th October 2022. The Resource person for the workshop was Dr. Md. Mahadhi Hasan, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Southeast University. A total of 160 college students were present at the workshop who were from different colleges in Dhaka and Gazipur.

Ms. Aliya Shahnoor Ameen, Chairperson, Department of English, delivered the welcome speech. Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, Hon’ble Adviser to BOT, Southeast University, delivered his valuable speech to encourage the students and make the event memorable. In his speech, the Hon’ble Advisor to BOT appreciated the timely initiative taken by Southeast English Club. Southeast English Club Moderator Mr. Mir Mohammad Tonmoy, Assistant Professor, and Assistant Moderator Jahanara Begum, Lecturer, were also present in the workshop. Their presence made the event more memorable. Students were very excited and enthusiastic in attending the workshop.


Dr. Hasan's excellent and engaging presentation made the students highly enthusiastic and motivated throughout the workshop. A short cultural program was held after the workshop where student of participating colleges and Southeast University participated. All the college students were awarded the certificate of appreciation from the Southeast English Club.

Students of the 6th Batch (Evening), Department of Textile Engineering, Southeast University organized Product Development Exhibitions & RAMP Show on 28 October 2022 at SEU Permanent Campus, Tejgaon, Dhaka. They showcased their creative ideas, projects, innovations, product developments & designs, concept stages, prototypes and finished textile products.

Dr. Syed Atiqur Rahman, Associate Professor, and Chairman, Dept. of Textile Engineering, SEU, inaugurated the exhibition. In this event, 65 students of 13 groups developed their products (Tops and bottom). The focus area of their products was to reuse of waste materials from garments industries, new cutlines, different multi wash, knit & woven combined polo shirts with a wash, home textile for casual wear, gamcha & lungi and Panjabi etc.


Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Pro-Vice Chancellor, BUFT was present as the Chief Guest. Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, Adviser, Board of Trustees, SEU Trust was present as the Guest of Honor. Dr. ANM Ahmed Ullah, Associate Professor, Dept. of Textile Engineering was the Advisor of the event. Engr. Meer Md. Rasel Khan, Country Manager (Bangladesh), Dymatic Chemicals Inc; Mr. Jason Rubel Das, Sr. Business Manager, Klubhaus, Dekko Isho Group; Md. Students from the Department of Law of Southeast University (SEU) took part in the "Law Career Festival" put on by the University of Dhaka's Faculty of Law in association with the Bangladesh Law Association (BLA) on November 5, 2022.

Prof. Dr. Akhtaruzzaman, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of the University of Dhaka gave the celebration its official start, while Chief Justice of Bangladesh Mr. Hasan Foez Siddique sat in the chief guest's seat. Additionally, two distinct law career panel discussions have been led by panelists from various stakeholders, including top officials from the judiciary, public service, law practice, international enterprises, and the UN & its affiliated agencies.


In order to promote Southeast University and the academic program and extracurricular activities of the Department of Law, SEU, a representative group of two faculty members and ten students attended the Talk Forums.

সাউথইষ্ট ইউনিভার্সিটি ডিবেট ক্লাব-এর সহ আয়োজন ও ডিবেট ফর হিউম্যানিটি (ডিএফএইচ) উদ্যোগে বাংলাদেশের ২৪টি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের বিতার্কিক দলের অংশগ্রহণে ৪-৫ নভেম্বর ২০২২ তারিখ সাউথইষ্ট ইউনিভার্সিটিতে আয়োজন করা হয়েছে জাতীয় আন্তঃবিশ্ববিদ্যালয় নবায়নযোগ্য শক্তি বিতর্ক প্রতিযোগিতা ২০২২। অক্সফ্যামের সার্বিক সহযোগিতায় আয়োজনের প্রথমদিন ৪ নভেম্বর সকাল ১০ টায় উদ্বোধনী অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথির বক্তব্যে জাহাঙ্গীরনগর বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অর্থনীতি বিভাগের অধ্যাপক ও তেল-গ্যাস-খনিজ সম্পদ বিদ্যুত-বন্দর রক্ষা জাতীয় কমিটির সদস্য সচিব অধ্যাপক আনু মুহাম্মদ বলেন, জাতীয় স্বার্থে নবায়নযোগ্য শক্তির ব্যবহার বাড়াতে শিল্পপতিদের এগিয়ে আসতে হবে। আমাদের সীমিত সম্পদ সংরক্ষণে রাষ্ট্রযন্ত্রের উপর কেবল নির্ভর না করে সকলকেই এগিয়ে আসতে হবে।

আয়োজনের শেষদিন ৫ নভেম্বর সমাপনী ও পুরষ্কার বিতরণী অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথির বক্তব্যে বাংলা একডেমীর সাবেক মহাপরিচালক ও বিশিষ্ট ইতিহাসবিদ সৈয়দ আনোয়ার হোসেন বলেন, তথ্যের ভিত্তিতে যুক্তি প্রদান হচ্ছে বিতর্ক। এতকালের শিল্পায়ন গণমুখী হয়েছে কিনা তা প্রশ্নের দাবীদার। গণমুখী শিল্পায়ন হলে নবায়নযোগ্য শক্তির ব্যবহার অপরিহার্য। জ্বালানী সাশ্রয় অবশ্যই জনগণের স্বার্থে হতে হবে। কারণ সার্বভৌম রাষ্ট্রে জনগণের স্বার্থের প্রাধান্য সর্বপ্রথম।

The Department of English at Southeast University was invited to attend the farewell program of the HSC candidates of Gazipur Metropolitan College on 27 October, 2022. Mr. Zahid Alam Munna, Assistant Professor and Ms. Jahanara Begum, Lecturer, Department of English, SEU attended the farewell ceremony. They addressed the HSC candidates and wished them good luck. The students were found extremely inspired and enthusiastic about the university. They were informed about education at Southeast University as well as the unique features of the Department of English. The visit was indeed very successful and fruitful.

The 122nd meeting of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of Southeast University Trust (SEUT) was held on Thursday, 3 November 2022 at 6:00 pm in the BoT Conference Room at the permanent campus of the university at Tejgaon. The meeting was presided over by Mr. Rezaul Karim, Chairman of BoT, SEUT. The BoT discussed various academic and administrative issues and took important decisions. The members of BoT provided valuable guidance to the management of the university, reviewed the progress of various activities and focused on future plans of the university.

Department of Career & Professional Development Services (CPDS) of Southeast University (SEU) organized a workshop on Corporate Communication on 02 November 2022 at SEU Seminar Hall, Banani, Dhaka. Mr. K M Parvez Boby, Deputy Director of Bangladesh Skill Development Institute (BSDI) was the resource person of the session. Ms. Tahnia Shahid, Director of CPDS presented the welcome remark and introduced the recourse person to the stusdents.


110 Students from different departments of SEU participated in the workshop. SEU students learnt ways of communication in different organizations with internal and external audiences through this workshop and interactive session. They also learnt management and orchestration of communications to create a favorable point of view and prompt desired communication skills for the employers. CPDS end the session cheering the #GEW (Global Entrepreneurship week).

The Southeast Business School (SBS) of Southeast University (SEU) organized a farewell program for the students of BBA program who have completed their degrees in the Summer, 2022 Semester on 23 October 2022 at the Seminar Hall, Banani, Dhaka-1213. The program was inaugurated with welcoming address by Mr. Tawfeeq Hasan, Lecturer and Coordinator, BBA Program, Southeast Business School. Prof. Dr. AFM Mafizul Islam, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of SEU chaired the program where he delivered a heartening speech to the students. He said, “I am not considering this event as a farewell event rather I am going to congratulate all of you for becoming soon to be part of the alumni community of the Southeast University.’’


Guest of Honor, Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, Hon’ble Adviser, BOT, added: “Southeast University has structured the program in such a way that it will make the graduates job-ready once they graduate. So, it is now the responsibility of the students to leave the footprint of Southeast University wherever they go. Prof. Dr. Md. Serajul Islam, Dean of SBS said that, the key to success in the professional world is networking, the more network you will build the more fruitful your professional career will be.

Director of the BBA Program Prof. Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rahim mentioned that students should enhance their technical skills to meet the challenges they are going to face ahead. On behalf of their respective batches, BBA students, Inzamul Haq Riyadh and Jannatul Ferdous Nabila reminisced about the last few years of their lives and thanked the faculty members for their role in shaping the students’ future. At the end of the program, participants enjoyed a lively cultural program performed by the members of Southeast Business Innovation Forum.

Tahmina Akter Supti from Southeast University was selected as Asia's Young Talents, organized by Monsta Asia. Ten Bangladeshi youths have made it to the Top 100 Young Talents in Asia list this year. Among the ten, one of them was Tahmina Akter Supti from the Department of Law, Southeast University.


From more than a thousand nominees, the top 100 young, talented individuals have been recognized for their impact on and outstanding contributions to their communities.

Department of Economics, Southeast University organized the first Meet and Greet program with students of Masters in Development Studies (MDS) and Alumni on 28 October, 2022. Prof. Dr. A.N.M. Meshquat Uddin, Adviser to BoT, SEU Trust was the distinguished speaker, while Prof. Dr. MA Hakim, Director IQAC and Professor of Department of Economics chaired the program. Ms Ruba Rummana, Chairperson of the Department delivered the welcome speech.


The program was a successful one with enthusiastic participation and interactive discussion of the students and alumni of the MDS program.

Department of English, in collaboration with the Department of Career & Professional Development Services (CPDS) at Southeast University, organized a workshop for college teachers “Connecting STEAM with Real-life Problem-Solving Education, Capacity Building and Beyond "on 27 October 2022 at the seminar hall, main campus.

The workshop was a great success with the enthusiastic participation of forty-four college teachers and principals from 20 different colleges. Ms. Kazi Nasrin Siddiqua, Executive Director of Education and Cultural Society, conducted the workshop. Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, Adviser to BoT, SEU Trust graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and handed over the crest to Ms. Kazi Nasrin Siddiqua as a token of appreciation and certificates to the participants. Ms. Aliya Shahnoor Ameen, Chairperson of the Departments of English, delivered the welcome address. Ms. Tahnia Shahid, Director of CPDS, introduced the resource person to the audience.


It was a fruitful workshop as the participating educators from different levels of higher education institutes shared their views. The college teachers expressed their gratitude for inviting them to the workshop. The Department of English at Southeast University will keep on organizing workshops like this for college teachers with a view to establishing a bridge for effective communication among the college principals and teachers.
